"Seven days you shall make atonement for the altar and sanctify it. And the altar shall be most holy. Whatever touches the altar must be holy." Exodus 29:37

God gave Moses instructions on how to make the altar of the Tabernacle Holy. Many Bible translations say, "Whatever touches the altar must be Holy" but a more literal translation would be "Whatever touches the altar will become Holy". The altar would literally become soaked in the Holiness of God. So much so, that anything that came in contact with the altar would become Holy. The altar would make the sacrifice Holy.

This is a picture of us when we come to Jesus. Jesus is the altar and anything that comes in contact with Him becomes holy. When we come to Jesus He takes our sin and gives us His Holiness; that is the literal Holiness of God! It sounds hard to believe, but it's true! We may still slip up and sin, but we are no longer sinners once we come to Jesus. Through Jesus we become the righteousness of God! We are made Holy by the altar of Jesus Christ! Understand, is you have come to the altar of Jesus Christ, presenting yourself as a living sacrifice to the Master, you have been made Holy! Washed clean of all sin, and now you stand justified before the Almighty God, who now calls you a child of His own!
