Darkest Before The Dawn...
"So Moses returned to the LORD and said, Lord, why have You brought trouble on this people? Why is it You have sent me? For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has done evil to this people; neither have You delivered Your people at all." Exodus 5:22-23
God had sent Moses to deliver the children of Israel out of Egypt, but sense his arrival things had gotten progressively worse. Now, the foremen who were over the Israelite workers come to Moses in anger, for the harsh conditions they have been brought under sense Moses came with the promise of deliverance. When Moses goes to God with the complaint God assures him their deliverance is at hand.
It is true, that often our darkest hour is right before the dawn. Things seemed terrible for Israel, and in fact they were. But, the Mighty God of Israel was about to deliver them in a mighty way. God often in our darkest moments shows up like never before! There are times we begin to doubt God just like the Israelites! Our circumstances seem to get worse-and-worse regardless of what God's Word says, and though we desperately want to hold tight to God's Word our circumstances are often overwhelming! We must never forget that God is faithful to His Word, and just because it doesn't come to pass right away does not mean it won't! The Israelite could have never understood what God was waiting on, even Moses didn't, but at just the right time God delivered them just as He said He would! Let us learn to wait on God, trusting Him to do the right thing, knowing He will do what He said at just the right time.
"Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:30-31
