"Now when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister, and said to Jacob, 'Give me children, or else I die!'" Genesis 30:1

Jacob loved Rachael more than her sister, but God had shown favor to Leah and given her children, while Rachael remained barren. Rachael looked upon Leah and became jealous of her. Ironically, Leah probably had spent her entire life in the shadow of her sister's beauty. I can imagine both sisters looking upon the other with envy, never taking into account how God had blessed them; Rachael with beauty and the love of her husband, and Leah with a bountiful womb.

Too often we look at others with envy, and forget about the blessings God has bestowed upon us. We desire what others have, and others desire what we have. God has blessed us all in His rich mercy and grace! Let us not forget to turn our eyes to what we have been blessed with, and give thanks with a grateful heart! Let us not look to others with envy, but let us keep our eyes on the One who has so richly blessed us. Let us praise the God of our salvation, keeping in memory all He has done for us!
