Looking Back...

"But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt." Genesis 19:26

In God's mercy He sends two angels to get Lot and his family out of Sodom before He destroyed it. The angels took Lot, his wife, and his two daughters out of Sodom. Living in Sodom they had undoubtedly learned to do many things in a way that was not pleasing to God. As God rained down fire and brimstone upon Sodom, Lots wife looked back. When she did she became a pillar of salt. She looked back at a way of sin, and her heart desired that life more than the one God was giving her.

Much the same way God has taken each of us out of a sinful world, a world he has destined to be destroyed. We know what is to come, and we know the ways of this world directly oppose God, yet there are times we look back at the world God has taken us out of. When we look back our hearts turn from God and begin to desire the things of the past, the things of sin. We have a bright future ahead of us. Let us keep our eyes looking forward at all God has for us. Let us forget the past, and the world of sin God has delivered us from. If we are looking back we will never be able to move forward. We will never receive all the blessings God has for us. Keep your eyes forward on the Lord and His Word, and receive all the good blessings of God's marvelous grace that He has prepared for you!

"But Jesus said to him, No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." Luke 9:62
