A Lost Life...
"He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it." Matthew 10:39
What a confusing lesson! To lose is gain and to gain is loss? To our natural understanding this makes little sense, but in God's way of working it makes perfect sense. Our natural mind and God's word will never mesh; they will always contradict one another. The Lord tells us that if we will lose our life for His sake we will find it. The bible is clear that we do not belong to ourselves we were bought and paid for with a price, and so the thought of laying our life down is a decision we should have made when we called on the Lord Jesus Christ. Yet it remains a decision we must constantly be reminded of; we are no longer our own. We are to put our desires aside for His. We are to live for the furtherance of His Kingdom and not our own. And this is the incredible thing, until we live for Him we will never know what living is. Until we surrender to His will we will never know freedom. We are called to lose our life; for it is only in losing it that we can truly be made alive. If we cling to our own desires and live for ourselves we will indeed lose our very life, but if we will lay down our life for Christ and the Gospel we will find a fullness of life that words cannot describe!
"And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst." John 6:35
