Capstone Community Service

Project Spotlight

A hallmark of the Eighth Grade year is participation in the "Beliefs in Action Capstone Project", which integrates Religion, Humanities, and Service Learning. Each week we will feature Eighth Grade students and the Community Service component of their Capstone Project.

Boys and Girls Club by Dean

I worked with the Boys and Girls Club to tutor young children in the Second and Third Grades. I helped kids with their homework, read books, and played some basketball for their team. I chose the project because someone told me I am a good role model for young children.

So Others May Eat by Noah

For my Capstone Community Service Project I worked at a homeless organization called SOME (So Others May Eat). For my service hours I served food to the homeless. I chose this because I think it is important to care for the less fortunate.

NSTA Convention

Last week Donna Davis and Wendy Gray attended the National Science Teachers' Association (NSTA) National Convention in Boston. This trip was made possible by the support of Karen Price-Ward, parent of Sixth Grade student Colton and Third Grade student Sage, and funded by Southwest Airlines. The opportunity to attend the national convention allowed our science teachers to view seminars on incorporating new initiatives into their classes, investigate digital textbook options and participate with other science teachers to discuss and share ideas on the best practices for teaching science for a cooperative community. We would like to thank Southwest and Ms. Price-Ward for their generosity!

First Grade Water Project Collection

Let's help them reach their goal!

First Grade has forged a relationship and is skyping with a Sister School in Guatemala, called Chutinamit. As part of our connection to our Water Project, and in conjunction with our Latin American Studies, we are doing an outreach project to raise money to purchase a pump for their well. First Grade will have a large jar located in the front lobby for collection of coins. Students in any grade are welcome to contribute and to make it more fun we would like to have students donate:

PENNIES on Mondays

NICKELS on Tuesdays

DIMES on Wednesday

QUARTERS on Thursdays

ANYTHING GOES on Fridays

We will continue this very worthwhile outreach program beginning April 14 through May 16. First Graders will be counting the money and charting the progress in the Front Lobby so the school can see what we have accomplished and where we still need to go! Thank you in advance for your participation in this worthwhile endeavor!

HUGE SUCCESS!

The Mardi Gras Masquerade and Auction was the most
successful Parents Association auction in the
history of the school, raising over

$95,000!

St. Anne's School of Annapolis would like to thank auction chairs, Julie Nogueira and Gabbi Paucek, the phenomenal Auction Committee, and everyone that supported this wonderful event.
If you were unable to attend the auction or want to contribute more it's not too late. You still have the opportunity to contribute to our PADDLE RAISE which will be used to enhance the
front entrance of the school.

Admissions Corner
What makes our school different?

Our school builds innovative, creative, and confident leaders as demonstrated by the students in their recent student led portfolio conferences. When you share stories with family, friends, and neighbors about the types of experiences your child is having here at St. Anne's School, you help others understand what sets our school apart.
