Congratulations Caroline Murkey! 
Congratulations to Eighth Grader Caroline Murkey, our 2012-2013 St. Anne's School Spelling Bee winner! Caroline competed with other finalists, Samara P., Sixth Grade; Malik Johnson and Jordan Franks, Seventh Grade; and Megan Jones, Eighth Grade, in the bee held last Thursday. Clinching the win with the correct spelling of the word "disobedient," Caroline will advance to the Anne Arundel County Spelling Bee, which is being held on Saturday, February 23. California Tortilla Spirit Night TONIGHT: Wednesday, January 16 Our next St. Anne's School Spirit Night will be Wednesday, January 16 at California Tortilla in the Festival Riva Shopping Center in Annapolis. Dine in or take out and a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to St. Anne's School! Don't for get to show your shield and wear your St. Anne's School gear!

Math Night Rescheduled
Math Night, originally scheduled for Thursday, January 17, will be held during Family Visiting Day on Friday, February 1. More details will be sent to families shortly.

Empty Bowls Thursday, January 24
We will be hosting our annual Empty Bowls dinner on Thursday, January 24, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Schools across the world host Empty Bowls dinners, an international project to teach people about the problems of hunger throughout the world. The dinner consists of soup, bread and salad. For the students and guests, the dinner helps to deepen our understanding of the problems of hunger. We ask for a $10 donation per guest, which is donated to the Light House Shelter, to combat hunger in our own community.
St. Anne's School families are asked to bring nut-free salads with dressing and serving utensils to supplement the dinner. Staff members are asked to bring cookies for dessert. Volunteer are also needed to clean-up. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Amy Byrd at amybee3@verizon.net or Jen Lauria at jennsyd@verizon.net. Thank you for helping us fight hunger!

Special Dress Day: Crazy Hair, Hat, Sock and Accessory Day Friday, January 25
Our next special dress day will be Friday, January 25. Students are invited to wear their craziest hair styles, hats, socks and/or accessories.

January Drive for FoodLink
Our January Drive will be directed towards the Emergency Baby Pantry at FoodLink. There is a constant need for items for the Emergency Baby Pantry, such as diapers, formula, and baby wipes, as well as newborn clothing. Other items on the list include bottles, pacifies, baby wash, sippy cups, towels, washcloths, layette blankets, socks and infant shoes.
Please bring your donations in by the last chapel of the month, Monday, January 28. We will bless the donations before we send them to FoodLink. Thank you for supporting this special collection.

There will be no Taco Lunch on January 16 or January 30. Dates for February will be Wednesday, February 13 and Wednesday February 27. Parent to Parent Coffees The Parents Association is excited to once again host Parent to Parent Coffees throughout the winter and spring. All are welcome to attend these informal morning coffees in the Parents Association Room. At each coffee, we'll discuss predetermined topics, with support from the St. Anne's School Administration. The survey will close on Tuesday, January 22. Once the survey is complete, we'll assign topics to dates throughout the rest of the year.
