Be A St. Anne's School Angel
Gift cards are being collected through Tuesday, December 18 to be given out by Food Link to families in need. Over the years, Food Link has noticed that an abundance of gifts are donated for very young children, but nothing for preteen, teens or young adults. This year we're collecting gift cards that Food Link can give to older children. Gift cards can be any denomination and can be from any type of store or retailer; mall gift cards, Target, grocery stores, Toys R Us, iTunes are just a few examples.
The Eighth Grade students are coordinating this effort. When a student brings in a gift card, they can deliver it to an Eighth Grade student or Teacher/Advisor. The student will then receive a large "gift tag" to sign, which will then be placed on our "Giving Tree" in the lobby.

Geography Week at
St. Anne's School
St. Anne's School students kicked off a week-long celebration of geography this Monday. The week's theme is "interdependence" and students are examining the many ways that we are interconnected with the world around us. Students have tracked their water use throughout the week, which led into discussions about water scarcity and its impact on the world.
We also tracked the origins of the food we ate and clothes we wore throughout the week. This data is displayed on two bulletin boards in the school.
The week will culminate with a school-wide meeting on Friday. We'll share videos of students presenting their findings over the next few days!

Message from the PA Chair
As often occurs at this time of the year, we find ourselves giving thanks and recognizing those to whom we are indebted. We, the parents and families of St. Anne's School of Annapolis are very lucky to be part of a generous, giving community. Many of you attended this Saturday's Santa's Workshop and Pancake Breakfast. Under the direction of Christy D'Camera, Santa's Workshop was once again a success. A multitude of volunteers helped set-up and staff the event, and later attend to the requisite clean-up, all the while exhibiting a smile and a laugh. A special thanks to Valerie Holzer and Val Devaris for staying to the very, very end.
Similarly, the Eighth Grade families could not have hosted the Pancake Breakfast fundraiser for their legacy gift without the gifts of many people. First, we would like to recognize Safeway (Forest Drive and Housley Road locations) and Graul's (Taylor Avenue) for generously providing some of the supplies for the breakfast. Secondly, we extend our thanks the many families who donated cakes for the Cake Walk. Your attention to the visual details of cake decoration encouraged both youngsters and grandparents into participation. Several families were having so much fun that they took home more than one cake! Thirdly, we send a very special thanks to Allie K's Grandparents, Cynthia and David Lynn, who not only lent us a hand, but also shared their secret Peralynna Manor pancake recipe.
But what is truly remarkable are the unsolicited gifts of time donated by families that are not part of the Eighth Grade. We would like to recognize Seventh Grade dad, Paul Holzer, for volunteering the morning of the event by taking position in the kitchen and assisting with food prep and later helping wash a mountain of dishes. We would also like to recognize Fifth and Third Grade dad, Bill Thomas, for jumping in and taking position in the food service line. Without the assistance of these two gentlemen, the long line for food would have been even longer. Thank you.
Merry Christmas everyone,
Sincerely,
Marnie Smith
