Thank You PEP Parents
Thank you to all families who joined in our PEP efforts on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday night, we enjoyed a fun Potluck following the boys soccer team's win against Rockbridge. On Wednesday morning, many parents joined us to host our formal admissions Open House and we had a wonderful turnout. Don't forget, we host Walk In Wednesday Open Houses each week, so if someone you know missed our formal Open House, be sure to let them know!

Fall Into Giving
Food Drive for Food Link

As part of our community outreach this year, our students will be asked to bring a donation of a food item to the last chapel of the month. Food items will be donated to Food Link, a local organization that supports our neighbors in  Annapolis and Anne Arundel County. The Third and Fifth grade students will work together as buddies to count and package the food.

For our first collection, our theme is simply Fall into Giving. We ask everyone to choose a food item that will take away someone's hunger for a day. The food must be prepackaged and non-perishable. Items such as peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti and sauce, soups and chili's, canned meat and instant potatoes and rice, cereals and granola bars are all needed. Please bring donations to the last chapel of this month, Monday, October 29.

Important Safety Information about Adults at School

All visitors to the school must check in at the front office prior to moving throughout the school building.  While we are a small and welcoming community, safety remains our first priority.  Following sign-in protocols are essential so that the front office staff knows the whereabouts of every person in the building.  To this end, we  ask that you do not walk in and out of the building unannounced and without signing in to drop of sports equipment, lunches left in the car or that piece of homework that your child "has to have" for their first period class etc.  Rather, please drop off items directly in the office, and we will make sure that your child receives such materials in a timely manner.   It is for the safety of your child, the staff, and our visiting community that you sign in with our front office.

We welcome  parents, grandparents, and family friends to visit our classrooms and experience the richness of our program first hand.  We believe our guests have the best experience when they plan a visit in advance, touching base with their child's teacher directly to set up a visit to the classroom.  We have many opportunities for family members to participate at the school through read alouds, classroom projects, being a parent liaison for their child's class - we are always looking for volunteers.  If you wish to attend a morning meeting in your child's classroom, be a guest reader, or support with an activity or project, simply contact your child's teacher directly to set up a mutually convenient time.  It can be difficult for your own child or other children to proceed by simply dropping in-classroom schedules are carefully orchestrated, and we want to be both welcoming and prepared to make the most of your time in the classroom.

We ask that you contact your child's teacher outside of class time to set up a time to talk about a classroom question or topic.  In the morning or even at non-academic times like recess, lunch or dismissal, teachers are typically focused on the task at hand and providing your child with the best learning opportunities possible.  Teachers cannot give you the time you fully deserve in these more inopportune moments.  Your child and your questions are just too important to handle on the fly! Instead, we ask that you  call or email  the teacher providing them with a few times you are available to talk.  This is the best way to honor you and provide the time you deserve in discussing your child's growth at St. Anne's School.
