Tell your story
A Letter to AHMA Members
 by Gretchen DuBeau, Esq.
Executive & Legal Director of the

Dear AHMA Members:

On behalf of the Alliance for Natural Health USA (ANH-USA), we want to thank AHMA and its members for taking a stand on genetically modified organisms (GMOs). By endorsing the 2012 California ballot initiative that would have required labeling GMOs, AHMA stands with the ninety percent of Americans who want to know about all the ingredients in their food.

But now we need your help in an even more tangible way. Read more

ESCAPE FIRE
CME Credits Available

Big Picture Instructional Design recently broke new ground in the area of professional education for physicians in practice, obtaining two prescribed CME credits for viewing a documentary film and completing an online assessment.

Visit www.escapefiremovie.com/cme to browse the official CME learning objectives associated with the film.

You can can view the film via DVD or by downloading it online and through iTunes. The assessment  can be taken by clicking the link provided. Additional discussion topics, action suggestions, screening guidelines and more can be found in the discussion guide we wrote for the film, available for free viewing and download on the website.

After viewing the film, viewers can go to the dedicated webpage to click through to the online assessment, or go to www.surveymonkey.com/s/escapefirecme to access the assessment directly. ESCAPE FIRE features the problems of healthcare providers from all sectors, including primary care physicians such as Erin Martin, M.D., a family physician from Hood River, Ore., who "struggles with not enough time for patients and prevention, and too little reimbursement." The documentary also talks to other health care leaders, including former CMS Administrator Donald Berwick, M.D.

President's Letter
Your legacy at AHMA
by Molly Roberts, MD
           Molly Roberts
One of the advantages to being an organization that has been around for a long time is we can build successfully on the good work and dedication others have already put into our beloved AHMA. I got a feel for the richness of our holistic medicine heritage when we convened our first Past Presidents' Council meeting recently. Read more
Executive Director's Letter
Collective Energy
by Steve Cadwell

In an opinion piece in last month's Time , the writer argued for the necessity of organized religion. Institutions and "obligations," he says, offer and do more for people than what might be found by those who are  "spiritual but not religious," a growing category of Americans explored and quantified by a recent Pew report.

"Institutions can be slow, plodding, dictatorial... But institutions are also the only mechanism human beings know to perpetuate ideologies and actions."

I learned something about the community that exists within AHMA, of the members for the members.

And You Need Each Other

You know why you joined AHMA. You know why you practice medicine as you do. More and more, people - your patients - are looking for the integrative, holistic approach to managing their health. At each AHMA retreat, we realize that you, as well as each member, need one another to remain whole, healthy, and able to help others.

AHMA doesn't have chapters in every state, however, we want to help you connect with like-minded professionals whenever and wherever possible. So please, help us help you. If you want to start a chapter in your area, please contact Steve Cadwell; bookmark our calendar and check it often to find helpful events and opportunities to earn CMEs or other applicable education credits. To place events on our calendar that others might benefit from, send an email to Claudia.  Thanks for helping us connect you with other members!
