San Jose Parks Foundation has received a $75,000 grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to provide a variety of programs in St. James Park this summer. The summer's programs and events are in full swing, and build on the success of last year's Summer in St. James Park Program. At noon on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays grab your yoga mat and head to St. James Park for a free yoga session. Bring your family and friends on Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. for the Twilight Concert Series. All happenings are free and are family-friendly. SAN JOSE'S GROWING CRAFT BREWERS

Silicon Valley Beer Week is July 24 through August 1, 2015, highlighting the growing craft brew industry in San Jose with makers hosting events at unique venues, restaurants and breweries throughout the city. According to Business Insider, craft brewers are small, independent, and traditional, and their commitment to innovation and community seems to resonate with beer drinkers. In San Jose, the craft brew industry is growing with five breweries today, up from two in 2013, and others in the works. Silicon Valley Beer Week kicked off in San Jose with several breweries hosting events and tastings, including Gordon Biersch, Strike, Hermitage, and Santa Clara Valley Brewing Company. The San Jose BioCube, a 37,000 square foot fully equipped biotech and life science incubator located in the Edenvale District of San Jose, is 100 percent occupied, with 21 tenants in a variety of industries ranging from biotech, life science, bio-medical research, nanotech, and clean tech companies. The BioCube has a waiting list of more than 15 companies. "We have several companies within the BioCube that are growing at a rapid pace, creating economic growth and jobs," said Anthony Gonzalez, Managing Director of the San Jose BioCube. "My goal and vision for 2016 and beyond is to continue to grow by creating a bigger biotech hub in San Jose." "The BioCube is a valuable resource for bioscience startups," said Chris Burton, Senior Business Development Manager for San Jose's Office of Economic Development. STATE-OF-THE-ART CAMPUS OPENS THIS FALL

Samsung Semiconductor Incorporated, the world's largest designer and manufacturer of memory and logic semiconductors, storage and LCD panels, is nearing completion on its 1.1 million square foot research and development (R&D) headquarters in North San Jose, which is set to open in September 2015. The campus is comprised of a 10-story tower, an amenity pavilion and parking garage. The design encourages interaction among staff, invites the community on campus and attracts employees to its amenity-rich environment, including courtyards with fitness facilities. The building is at the intersection of North First Street and East Tasman Drive, with cafes and a Samsung expo that's open to the public. The tower can house 2,000 employees and is divided into two sections: R&D and sales. Its unique design allows for Samsung employees to be no further than one floor away from green space.
