/ SAN JOSE OPENS ROUTE TO CHINA WITH HISTORIC FLIGHT

#sjplace

Hainan Airlines recently departed from Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) in route to Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), marking the first-ever nonstop service between the People's Republic of China and Silicon Valley. The flight's economic impact for the San Jose region is estimated at $105 million annually and additional 52 San Jose-based jobs, based on City of San Jose studies and airline information. With 213-seats, the modern Boeing 787 Dreamliner has five flights per week - Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. "With the growth of the technology industry, trade between China and the U.S., and especially this region, has expanded," said Hainan Airlines Vice Chairman Mu Weigang. "Travelers will no longer have to endure traffic when they are flying to or from Silicon Valley, and San Jose Airport is known for its amenities and accessibility." According to San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo, "We thank our newest international carrier for its significant investment in San Jose." Welcome to San Jose, Hainan! To read more, click here. / DEVELOPMENT AND SALE OF PROPERTIES SUPPORT SAN JOSE REGION AS #1 JOB CENTER IN NATION

#sjtalent

Job growth in the San Jose Metropolitan area is now growing at an annual pace of 6.0 percent -- best in the nation for large metro areas by far and outpacing the  San Francisco-Oakland-Hayward Region (3.4 percent), according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. "Several economic factors contribute to the ongoing success of job growth in San Jose and the region," said John Lang, San Jose's Chief Economist. "A big part of the picture for San Jose is the development and significant renovations of corporate campuses in North San Jose, which accommodate thousands of employees." For example, Samsung's new campus anticipates more than 2,000 employees onsite when it opens its doors later this year. In addition, Bixby Land's THE Campus on Renovation Row in North San Jose recently went through a major renovation and sold to MCP Trimble Campus. THE Campus will accommodate nearly 1,000 employees. "Sales of land and renovated campuses don't appear to be slowing anytime soon," said Nanci Klein, Deputy Director of San Jose's Office of Economic Development. "San Jose is the largest city in the Bay Area. With ample room to grow and the amenities and access employers and top talent are looking for, we are seeing significant investment in our City." For example, Seattle-based Washington Holdings recently purchased Zanker Business Center, four single-story R&D buildings in North San Jose on Zanker Road. According to their Assistant Vice President Rosanna Davidson-McMahon, "Washington Holdings plans to reposition the property with the amenities and architecture typical of a modern Class A office/tech park." / MOUNTZ INC. CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF MANUFACTURING IN SAN JOSE

#northsj

In 1966, Don Mountz, Founder and Board Chairman of Mountz Inc., relocated his business to San Jose and 50 years later, he is still a leading manufacturer and seller of torque tools and fasteners to more than 8,000 customers around the world in the aerospace, automotive, electronics, energy, medical, and packaging industries. Torque can be thought of as how forcefully a machine cranks or rotates. Fasteners that are insufficiently fastened can vibrate loose and excessive torque can strip threaded fasteners. Mountz manufactures and sells the products -- torque tools, bits, sockets and adapters, power assembly tools, screwdrivers, wrenches, fasteners, analyzers and sensors -- that control torque and ensure that quality, safety and product reliability isn't compromised. "We congratulate Don and his team for their 50 years in business and are thrilled that Mountz has a thriving business in San Jose," said Chris Burton, Senior Business Development Manager for San Jose's Office of Economic Development. Congratulations, Mountz and thank you for doing business in San Jose! For more information, contact Chris Burton, Senior Business Development Manager, or click here.
