/ SAN JOSE RANKED #1 CITY IN US FOR SMALL BUSINESSES
San Jose recently ranked as the No. 1 city in the
U. S. for small business, according to Biz2Credit's report. The City's No. 1 ranking is based on a weighted average that includes annual revenue, credit score, age of business (in months), cash flow, debt-to-income ratio, incorporation (C-Corp or LLC vs. sole proprietorship), and business owners' personal credit scores. "San Jose remains the center of innovation and new business job creation in the U.S.," said Biz2Credit CEO Rohit Arora. "The uplift in the northern California economy has not just benefited tech-centric startups." The money and workers brought in by high-profile tech companies boosts all Silicon Valley businesses, including gas stations, restaurants, and boutique shops, noted Arora. A small business is defined as one with fewer than 250 employees and less than $10 million in annual revenues. / HOTELS COME TO NORTH SAN JOSE - AN INDICATION OF MARKET GROWTH
The development of branded properties on one site is part of a growing trend in San Jose that has allowed owners to target different travelers and take advantage of economies of scale by sharing resources like staff and facilities. The Huntington Hotel Group along with affiliate San Jose HHG Hotel Development LP is an example of this. With a 175-room Residence Inn and a 146-room SpringHill Suites on 0.5 acres near the Mineta San Jose International Airport, these hotels will share a pool, health club, gift shop, three-story parking garage and back-of-house areas. The Hampton Inn & Suites and the Holiday Inn, currently under development in North San Jose, will share parking facilities. In addition, the Hyatt Hotels Corp. $65 million Hyatt Place and Hyatt House will add 330 rooms on a shared six-acre parcel in North San Jose. "We recognized the need for additional extended stay lodging in the area due to the success of Silicon Valley technology companies and new/expanding companies driving employment growth," says Kevin Keefer, principal of Huntington Hotel Group.
