/ SAN JOSE RANKS #1 IN NATION FOR UPWARD MOBILITY

In a recent report by the National Bureau of Economic Research, San Jose ranked as the #1 city in America for upward income mobility. Specifically, the report found that residents have the highest chance nationally if starting in the bottom 20% of income distribution of reaching the top 20%. Key factors include education quality, racial and ethic integration, social capital, and family structure. To read the full report, click here. 83% OCCUPANCY

The San Jose BioCube is a fully equipped bioscience research  and development center consisting of wet-lab and office space. The facility caters to startups and growth companies  and is at 83 percent occupancy. "At current growth rates, we anticipate the BioCube to be fully occupied by Summer 2014," said Anthony Gonzalez, managing director of San Jose BioCube. Amgen Tour

/ AMGEN TOUR ANNOUNCES  NINTH YEAR IN SAN JOSE-THE ONLY CITY TO HOST THE EVENT EVERY YEAR

The route for the ninth edition of America's largest and most prestigious professional cycling stage race, the Amgen Tour of California, was announced recently. This challenging race will bring elite cyclists from all over the world to California May 11-18 for more than 730 miles of all-out battle through 12 host cities, including San Jose, the only city to host the Tour for each of the nine years since the race began in 2006. The San Jose Stage 3 Start, on Tuesday, May 13, will be produced by a veteran Local Organizing Committee, led by the San Jose Sports Authority. The stage will start at Raging Waters at Lake Cunningham Regional Park in San Jose and riders will travel north toward the East Foothills, before turning onto Mt. Hamilton Road to tackle the early climb on Mt. Hamilton, continuing on to finish atop Mt. Diablo on the most challenging stage of the 2014 race.The San Jose Sports Authority, a non-profit organization that serves as the sports commission for the City of San Jose, will lead the planning and implementation of the Stage 3 Start. The Global Innovation Summit +Week was held in February at the Marriott Hotel in Downtown San Jose, bringing  together more than 1,000 participants from 50 countries to foster systemic innovation in startup communities and across companies, cities and countries. The event focused on growing innovation ecosystems that stimulate the creation of breakthrough products, design new solutions to big challenges, and catalyze sustainable economic growth and wealth.  It is slated to return to San Jose in 2015. / SAN JOSE RANKS IN TOP 30 CITIES WORLDWIDE FOR REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT

San Jose recently ranked among  the top of 30 other cities worldwide for real estate investment according to a recent study by  Jones Lang LaSalle (NYSE: JLL). The report looked at 30 cities worldwide where 50 percent of the US$4.6 trillion in direct commercial real estate investments has been concentrated over the past decade and highlights real estate's impact on the strength of super and primary cities and the growth of second-tier cities.  The report contends that real estate is no longer a consequence of a city's economic success, but is now actively employed to drive it.
