MAN, 30, DIES IN BIBB COUNTY SHERIFF CUSTODY

Bibb County Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Lawarence says a 30-year-old man in custody died in Friday after an officer-involved foot chase.

The suspect was a passenger inside a broken-down vehicle near Hickory Hill Road Intersection in Centreville when
 officers approached the vehicle and the suspect jolted out of the car.  
After a struggle officers handcuffed the suspect and called an ambulance. The suspect was later pronounced dead because of cardiac arrest at Bibb Medical Center.

TWICE CONVICTED RAPIST ARRESTED FOR THIRD ASSAULT

Steven Anthony Coleman was arrested in 2004 on two different charges of rape.   He was convicted in 2005 was released from prison in February 2011.  He  is now charged in the March attack of a woman who was held against her will and sexually assaulted Jefferson County.   

After this latest assault the victim was forced to drive him back to the Brierfield community in Bibb County where she dropped him off on a rural road.

Terrance Brown
serves as director for voice and opera at University Of North Alabama and is the director of this year's presentation of:

What: UNA Opera/Musical Theatre presents "Into the Woods"
When: 7:30 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Sunday
Where: Norton Auditorium, UNA campus, Florence

 
The musical was first performed in 1986 at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, the musical ran for 50 performances.


Director Bio:

American baritone Terrance Brown is a native of West Blocton. He received a bachelor's degree in music from Samford University in Birmingham, and a master's degree in music and doctorate of musical arts from Louisiana State. 

An active teacher and stage performer, Brown has traveled throughout the United States and Europe as a concert artist, recitalist and operatic artist. He is known for his rich, lyrical baritone voice that is capable of performing a variety of styles.
Brown said he is an active recitalist and concert artist, and has performed as feature soloist with the Canterbury Choral Society, Texarkana Symphony, Chesapeake Chamber Opera, Rapides Symphony Orchestra, Oklahoma City Ballet, Austin Symphony Orchestra, Baton Rouge Symphony, Chattanooga Symphony, Huntsville Symphony, Memphis Symphony Orchestra, as well as other noted performing ensembles.
He serves as director for voice and opera at UNA.

 327 Case of Abuse In Bibb County 

Last Year's 327 Victims of Child Abuse in Bibb County are Remembered at the Bibb County Courthouse.

Central Alabama Children's Advocacy Council Bibb County Pinwheel Planting - "Members of the community, including DHR, Sheriff's Office, Probate Judge, Superintendent and others participated in yesterday's planting of 327 pinwheels at the Bibb County Courthouse to honor the 327 victims of child abuse in Bibb County reported in the past year.

There have been many questions raised about why the University of Alabama paid nearly $75,000 in disbursements so far this year, that were processed via PayPal, a rare method of payment for UA.

Chris Bryant, university spokesman, downplayed the fact that more than half of the money UA spent via PayPal between January and March went to JRM, calling it "a common practice for universities.":
