April 12th, 2016 Proclaimed - "TYUS TUESDAY"
The Centreville City Council has designated Tuesday April 12th, 2016 as "Tyus Tuesday
"
The Proclomation reads that in recognition of their
"meritorious and continuous contributions to the economy and prosperity of our City and for the convenience and service to the citizens by 46 years of continuous service as a retail merchant by Earl & Barbra Tyus, Western Auto Store."
"Any time you get down to the top three players in a classification, that is pretty special, and to do it two years in a row says a lot about his character and hard work," Bibb County coach Russ Wallace said.
"He is unselfish, especially this year. His point production was down, but his assists were up because he was being double and triple-teamed a lot and made great passes. He is a complete team player."
In choosing the editorials to place in the "BIBB BLAST", I try to look for important information which seems to miss the "headlines" of most media. The following story about this remarkable young Prattville lady is one I believe all Alabamians will want to be aware.
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Coming close to death was the best thing that ever happened to Madison Darling. "I am in better health than I was before the brain surgery," said Darling.
These days, Darling has a new life mission; rescue children from the savages of human sex trafficking.
"I was just astounded," Darling said. Astounded because so much of it is happening right here in Alabama. "There are cases in Montgomery, and I-20 is the human trafficking superhighway corridor," Darling said.
NORTHPORT, Ala. (WIAT) - Some big changes are underway for those who depend on food stamps in Alabama. As of Friday, thousands of food stamp recipients around the state lost their benefits.
Officials at the West Alabama Food Bank say the change could put a burden on their operation which serves nine West Alabama counties.
Bibb County is one of the counties served by the food bank.
