Bibb County Hospital Board are, as has occured in the past, going head to head with the Bibb County Commission over tax revenue going to Bibb Medical Center.  This time both are using social media and the internet to make their case.

Bibb County Food Stamp Recipients Must Work Or Loose Benefits

Bibb County food stamp recitients are amoung 
thousands of people in Alabama who will need to find some kind of work within the next couple of months. If not found by April first, they will no longer be eligible for food stamps according to Barry Spear from the Alabama Department of Human Resources.

West Blocton Man Fatal In Morning Crash

West Blocton:  Local man dies in early morning crash.

Joseph Brian "Joey" Summerlin, 29 of West Blocton was killed this week in a viehicle crash on Hwy 11.    
Stephen Shirley, 30, of West Blocton, Billy Ray Gamble, 78, of McCalla, were transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Both men were listed in fair condition at UAB Tuesday afternoon. 
Investigators say the crash happened around 4:50 a.m Tuesday, February 2nd.

Condolences are extended to the family.

Ties To Music Are Deep In Bibb

ACM Awards 2016 nominees include Little Big Town, Sam Hunt, other acts with Alabama ties.



One nominee has special ties to Bibb County.  Tyler Hubbard is a native of Monroe, Ga., however, he does have
ties to Alabama.

 Hubbard's parents, the late Roy Wayne Hubbard and Amy Eady Hubbard, are from Bibb County.   Hubbard has other relatives in Tuscaloosa and Centreville.

Dr. Shane Lee, a family physician who has practiced in Marion Alabama for 26 years said he believes part of the reason that t
he rate of tuberculosis disease in Marion exceeds many developing countries, and is more than 100 times higher than the statewide rate, may be a distrust of the system.

"There's some distrust of the system," Lee said. "Sometimes it's based on experience. Sometimes, when I offer people a test like a mammogram, they say, 'No, I don't want to know."
