DOC Fast Tracks Finding Workers

Alabama Department of Corrections Director of Recruiting, Capt. Mark Loman said the St. Clair County Job Fair scheduled for Jan. 15
from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Ashville City Hall, has been 
carefully designed to provide qualified residents with a swift path to employment. 

This event has been timed one week in advance of required testing for candidates, which will take place at Bibb County Correctional Facility in Brent on Jan. 22.

CENTREVILLE SOLDIERS DEPLOYED TO AFGAHANISTAN

BIBB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
A group of soldiers from the Alabama Army National Guard's 129th Area Support Medical Company, out of Centreville, have been called to active duty.
The 19 Alabama National Guard soldiers will deploy to Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and will provide medical and dental health care in various locations to units located in their area of operations.

3 DEAD FROM TUBERCULOSIS OUTBREAK

MARION, Ala. (WIAT) - The Alabama Department of Public Health is working to stop a tuberculosis outbreak in Perry County.    More than 250 Perry County residents have been screened for tuberculosis since Monday, and health officials in Marion expect another 250 to get their blood tested by Wednesday.

26 patients have been diagnosed with tuberculosis, and 20 are from Marion. Three adults have died as a result of the illness.

Four others have been diagnosed with TB around Tuscaloosa, and two in Centreville.  Health officials say those people are linked to cases in Marion.

Controlled burns will be used to decrease the threat of future wildfires in Bibb County over the next six months.   In total about 117,000 acres of forest land will be set on fire across Alabama.
by USDA Forest Service fire specialists.
Talladega Forest - Oakmulgee District is planning to burn 28,000 acres in Bibb, Dallas, Perry, Tuscaloosa, Hale, and Chilton Counties, call (205) 926-9765 for more information.
