BIBB COUNTY'S 300 MILLION YEAR OLD FOREST.

John Cooke has spent his life scrambling through the refuse at strip mines and clambering over stones in Pea Ridge, West Blocton and Abernant as he has picked through the relics of our area that existed here more than 300 million year ago.

Recently scientists from the Smithsonian have taken a significant interest in John's discoveries, maybe his siblings will stop teasing him about having rocks in his head.

Newley elected Bibb County GOP State Executive Committee members traveled to Shelby County on January 29th and met with both Rep. April Weaver and Sen. Cam Ward.  The two Bibb County Legislators will serve as important Committee Chairs for the 2015 legislative sessions.

1,600 workers at US Steel's Alabama operations, which include Fairfield Works and Fairfield Tubular Operations may be out of a job.

"US Steel's Fairfield Works operation will remain idle until customer order's pick up", Mario Longhi, President and CEO of US Steel.

 Employees will find out if their jobs are eliminated on or after March 29, according to a company spokeswoman.

Cahaba River Clean Up By Nature Conservancy
 
Location will be upstairs of the concession stand. 
 T-ball ages 3-4, Baseball ages 5-14, Softball ages 5-12.  
Cost is T-ball-$80, Baseball/Softball-$110 for 1 child, 
 $85 for 2 children, $60 for others.

BCHS Baseball is hosting a baseball camp on Feb. 13th

Opening day is scheduled for Saturday March 21st.
