Next MCAA Green Webinar to Focus on Integrated Project DeliveryIf your next project incorporates sustainable building features, plan to participate in the next MCAA Green Building Webinar on May 28 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time. Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) has become an increasingly popular contract delivery method for sustainable green building projects. During this webinar, Courtney France of France Sustainable Solutions will explain how these projects differ from traditional design-bid-build projects and outline MCAA members' role in this delivery method. France will also discuss how MCAA members' scope of work and services may be exposed to increased risks, as well as rewards, on IPD projects. Now is the time to find out more about this growing industry trend, so sign up today at https://mcaa.webex.com. This webinar is free as a benefit of MCAA membership. Questions? Please contact Sean McGuire at smcguire@mcaa.org.
New OSHA Safety Standard on Confined Spaces in Construction

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) just released its new standard on Confined Spaces in Construction; it becomes effective on August 3, 2015. In preparation for its release, MCAA is developing the following safety resources to help our members comply with the new standard:

  • Safety Bulletin: Highlights key differences with the existing industry standard and summarizes the new standard
  • Model Program: Confined Space Entry in Construction
  • Safety Training Video: 14-minute video for training mechanical construction workers subject to the standard
  • Safety Training Guide: Highlights key training points
  • Training Documentation Sheet: Assists with documenting the training of workers subject to the standard
  • Safety Training Test: 20-question multiple choice test for training documentation and an affirmative defense against OSHA citations

These resources will be free as a benefit of MCAA membership, and will be made available to members prior to the date the standard takes effect. For more information, please contact Pete Chaney at pchaney@mcaa.org.

Are You Ready for the Next Big Industry "Thing"?

If you aren't sure and you're a graduate of MCAA's Advanced Leadership Institute (ALI)

program, consider attending the new ALI-Graduates program. The program is designed to enhance the leadership and strategic planning skills that you learned and acquired in the ALI program so that you can take on any emerging trend, market change or industry crisis with confidence and success. You and your colleagues asked for this advanced curriculum, and the Advanced Leadership Committee responded by working with the academic leaders of Babson Executive Education to create a curriculum that will meet your demands for new strategies to help you take on the latest and future industry challenges. Attendance will be strictly limited to 30 ALI alumni. Attendees are accepted on a first-come/first-served basis. ALI-G takes place June 17-20 at the Babson Executive Education Center in Wellesley, MA. Contact Dennis Langley at dlangley@mcaa.org for a flier, curriculum schedule and registration form. Don't delay because the program is almost fully subscribed.

Keep Your Workers Safe...Sign Them Up for the NFPA Arc Flash Safety Training Webinar
NFPA Safety Training Webinars Are Open for RegistrationYour employees are your most valuable asset, so keeping them safe is a top priority. For those employees who work around electricity, safety training is critical, and the NFPA 70E Qualified-Level Arc Flash Safety Training Webinar is an excellent forum for providing that training. The webinar is designed for employees who are potentially exposed to live conductors of 50 volts of electricity or more during their workday, and especially mechanical service technicians who work on units that generate up to 480 volts. The next webinars will take place on May 19 at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Eastern time. Presented by The Hilgeman Group, the session covers all applicable OSHA and NFPA requirements including the revised NFPA 70E requirements that took effect on January 1 and best practices and provides participants with real-world accident information to reinforce the training. Contact The Hilgeman Group at ahilgeman@frontier.com to register.
