MCAA National Update for June 30, 2014

MCAA's Successful 2014 Mid-Year Conference Glimpsed the Company of the Future

Mid-Year Conference Brochure 200 attendees came to Indianapolis, IN last week for thought-provoking and intriguing presentations that gave them a myriad of ideas for advancing their companies in the next few years. Opening speaker, technologist James Benham of JB Knowledge, Inc., showcased tools that contractors may use on the project site such as: Google Glass for hard hats; a device that converts a two-dimensional drawing into a three-dimensional model by simply swiping an iPad over the drawing; jobsite surveillance using drones; and much more. (If you missed Benham's fascinating presentation, he'll be at MCAA 2015 in Maui, HI.) Other interesting presentations featured modularized projects that were successfully completed by MCAA member companies. MCAA leaders rounded out the conference program with their perspective on how industry is adapting to the technology challenges of the present and future.  MCAA President Chuck Fell explained the overriding importance of education to MCAA and its members; President-Elect Steve Dawson offered comments on the current use of technologies to enhance productivity; Vice President/Assistant Treasurer Greg Fuller provided unique insights into ways that fabrication operations can and will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of project performance; MCAA Board of Directors member Rick Perosa offered turnover meeting enhancements; and 2012 MCAA President Mark Rogers closed the conference with a presentation about the growing importance of forward-thinking leaders to successful companies. MCAA again thanks the faculty and speakers for their contributions to a very successful program.
