MCAA National Update for March 31, 2014

LEARN HOW TO MEET AND BEAT TODAY'S CYBER SECURITY CHALLENGES

Finding out how and where your company may be vulnerable to cyber security breaches is one of the issues that will be discussed during an MCAA webinar on April 25 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time. Moderated by Steve Dawson of Harrell-Fish, Inc. (Bloomington, IN), Protecting You, Your Business Partners and Your Clients...Today's Cyber Security Challenge will feature Paul Gouge of CNA and Jim Wenninger of WennSoft. They will help your team identify potential weak points in your workflow and, most important, suggest steps you can take to protect your operations before a breach occurs. This is an opportunity for your top management, IT and accounting department heads to start a proactive conversation within your company and with your business partners to safeguard all your electronic interactions. This webinar is free to all MCAA members as a benefit of membership.  Please register at https://mcaa.webex.com.

FAST-PACED ROUNDTABLE SESSIONS TO BE FEATURED AT MCAA'S 2014 MID-YEAR CONFERENCE
To stay on track toward a future of increasing success for your business, you need to know how best to get there and the 2014 Mid-Year Conference (June 23-25, Indianapolis, IN) will provide the map. The conference will feature sessions about the new technologies and business practices you will need to improve the productivity of your company's operations and its communications with the employees and customers who are critical to the growth of your business. The fast-paced, results-oriented, collaborative sessions will show you how those new ideas can work. John Koontz, MCAA's National Director of Project Management Education, will moderate three roundtable discussions that will help you sort out which technologies, strategies and practices have worked well in your company in increasing productivity, motivating employees and growing your business and how they may improve even more as the future unfolds. The full program and registration information are at www.mcaa.org/education.
NFPA 70E QUALIFIED-LEVEL ARC FLASH SAFETY TRAINING WEBINAR SAVES LIVES
If your service technicians or other employees who work with or around electrical equipment have not yet participated in the life-saving training provided by the NFPA 70E Qualified-Level Arc Flash Safety Training webinar, make sure they register for one of the next webinars on April 17, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Eastern time. MCAA/MSCA members' employees who are potentially exposed to live conductors of 50 volts of electricity or more during their workday, and especially mechanical service technicians working on units that push 480 volts or less, should attend. Presented by the Hilgeman Group, the session covers all applicable OSHA and NFPA requirements,
best practices and NFPA's recent changes to the 70E requirements and provides participants with real-world accident information that will reinforce the importance of this training. Contact the Hilgeman Group at ahilgeman@frontier.com to register.
TWEET/GAROT MECHANICAL ACHIEVES SAFETY MILESTONE

Tweet/Garot Mechanical, Inc. (Green Bay, WI) recently accomplished an important safety milestone when the company logged eight million hours over more than 11 years without a lost-time incident. By comparison, the average mechanical contractor working eight million hours would have 89 injuries leading to lost work time, according to the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics. Tweet/Garot CEO Tim Howald and Safety Director Gabe Gutenberger attribute the company's safety success to its innovative safety program and to the "relentless safety dedication" of its employees. Congratulations on this impressive achievement!
