MCAA National Update for November 19, 2012
MCAA 2013 CLOSING SPEAKER ERIC GREITENS EPITOMIZES SPIRIT OF "GIVING BACK"
MCAA 2013 Speaker Eric GreitensThanksgiving is just around the corner, and as we busily make preparations for this very special American holiday, it's appropriate to acknowledge those who have found ways to share their blessings. Our Closing Session speaker for MCAA 2013 (March 17-21 at the JW Marriott Hill Country, San Antonio, TX) is one of those remarkable people. After serving our country as a U.S. Navy Seal (he was deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, the Horn of Africa and Southeast Asia), Greitens and two friends used their military earnings to create The Mission Continues, an organization that places post 9/11 wounded and disabled veterans with community-based non-profit establishments to help them develop their professional and educational goals. Find out more about Greitens' unconventional life and the motivations behind his giving spirit -- as well as our other excellent speakers, business-building educational sessions and fabulous social events -- by scanning our convention Planning Guide at www.mcaa.org/mcaa2013. You'll want to sign up right then and you can by using our convenient online registration process. Do it now to enjoy Early Bird registration rates.
MANAGEMENT METHODS COMMITTEE TO RELEASE NEW BULLETINS
MCAA's Management Methods Committee is releasing several new bulletins aimed at helping contractors meet daily business challenges. The Insurance Punch List (IN 1) has been updated and revised to provide basic information about the types of insurance coverages that are available to contractors and what plans they should have to safeguard their businesses, operations and employees. Tips to Help Contractors Through an Economic Downturn (AF 4) has also been revised to reflect current economic conditions. The bulletin offers helpful advice about what signs to look for when market trends go down and begin to recover and how to protect your company through it all. Several bulletins in the Legal section have been updated -- Protecting Lien Rights (LL 1), Records Retention (LL 6), Federal Prompt Payment Act (LL 10) and Contract Clauses (LL 11). Committee members are updating and revising the remaining bulletins in the Legal section. All the bulletins in the Subcontracts section have been revised and updated as well -- Suggested Subsubcontract Form (SC 1), Indemnification Clauses (SC 2) and Comparison of Industry Standard Form Agreements Between General Contractor and Subcontractor, which replaces the old SC 3 and SC 4. All of these new and revised Management Methods Bulletins will be available online at http://www.mcaa.org/private/mgmtmeth/ shortly, and more are coming. There is no charge for Management Methods Bulletins as a benefit of MCAA/MCAA membership. Please contact Ann Mattheis (amattheis@mcaa.org) with questions.

SEND YOUR SAFETY AND HEALTH PROFESSONALS TO MCAA'S 2013 SAFETY DIRECTORS' CONFERENCE

Your company's safety and health professionals need the latest information about current and upcoming regulations and issues affecting workplace safety and health. MCAA's Safety Directors' Conference (January 15-17, 2013, Manhattan Beach, CA.) is their best source for that important information. The program opens with Occupational Safety and Health Psychology expert Scott Gellar of Safety Performance Solutions who will focus on the Controversial Role of Discipline in Safety. Mike Farrington of CNA will present Mechanical Industry Loss Trends and David Sarvadi of Keller and Heckman will speak on OSHA initiatives. Other topics will include: ISNetworld, Safety and Productivity; Work Glove Technology; First Aid vs. Professional Medical Treatment; and OSHA's New Hazard Communications Standard. Please register at www.mcaa.org/education. For more information, please contact Pete Chaney (pchaney@mcaa.org).

SALES LEADERSHIP WEBINAR CAN GIVE YOUR SALES TEAM A BOOST
If your sales leaders could use some tips on how to improve and motivate their staff's performance to a higher level, have them participate in the last webinar of MSCA's Building the Ultimate Sales Team series. They will learn how to analyze the status of your company's sales culture and how to create a "sales driven culture." They will also learn what it takes to be a great "sales" leader and how to develop a personal action plan to enhance their leadership qualities and lead your sales organization to peak performance. Jim Bartolotta of Air Comfort Corporation (Broadview, IL) will lead the webinar that takes place on December 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time. This webinar is free as a benefit of MSCA/MCAA membership; please register at https://msca.webex.com/
