MCAA National Update for November 12, 2012
ASTRONAUT MARK KELLY EXEMPLIFIES GRACE IN TIMES OF ADVERSITY
MCAA 2013 Speaker Mark KellyDuring the darkest of times, courage and grace may emerge to light our way. Last week, CAPT. USN (ret.) Mark Kelly shone a light through the darkness that Jared Lee Loughner tried to create when he shot Kelly's wife, former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, in 2011. At Loughner's sentencing hearing, Kelly told him, "Even amid all that was lost, Gabby and I give thanks for her life, her spirit, and her intellect, which are a continued force in this world despite what you've done. We exalt in sharing our lives with each other and with our family and friends... And here is what persists in Gabby: her love for this city, this state and this country. Her commitment to lifting us all up, and her ability to lead." Kelly will share his experiences in helping his seriously injured wife through those dark times in the larger context of how we find the courage to rebuild our businesses and lives that may be damaged by natural, economic or other adversities. Be sure to hear Capt. Kelly tell his remarkable story at the Annual Awards of Excellence Breakfast during MCAA 2013 (March 17-21, San Antonio, TX). If you have not yet received your printed Planning Guide, it will arrive shortly. And, if you can't wait, the complete brochure and all the information you need to register and plan your unconventional week at MCAA 2013 is online at www.mcaa.org/mcaa2013. To get a taste of what you'll experience, take a few minutes to view the video on our website at www.mcaa.org.
