CITY LIBRARY ACCESS AT CIS
In order for our students to access the city library databases and other awesome resources we would like all CIS students to have a library card and pin. If your child already has theirs, please fill out the information on this form so that our teachers can help students access the databases while researching in our computer lab. Thank you!
The New Mexico State Library now provides a free statewide access to online tutoring. It is now possible for our students to obtain homework help, study tips and even career assistance by visiting the New Mexico State Library online. The state's Department of Cultural Affairs has purchased a statewide subscription to Brainfuse, which is an online tutoring and educational portal. This portal will be accessible through the public libraries. Site coordinators should therefore encourage students to visit www.elportalnm.org for assignment purposes. Brainfuse tutoring portal is available on this website. This program provides exceptional services as it specializes in one-to-one tutoring, study skills-building and career assistance through its HelpNow and JobNow services. It gives opportunities to Elementary School, Middle School and High School students to carry out research. Through the Brainfuse HELPNOW program, tutors are available every day from 2:00 PM - 11:00 PM MST to help students answer questions. Thank you. |
CORRALES INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL FOUNDATION
FUND '15
As you may know, the Corrales International School Foundation was established to provide funding and other means of support to enhance the school's mission. Now that we are in a lease-to-purchase agreement, the Foundation is working toward funding the purchase of our school's permanent home.
In accordance with the State's mandates, we must be in a publicly owned facility by 2017 in order to meet the terms of our charter renewal. Our goal is to raise approximately $400,000 by this time, which will afford us the opportunity to purchase this wonderful facility and fulfill the terms of the charter. We realize that this goal may seem lofty, but are also confident that it can be achieved with your support.
Our immediate goal for this year (2014-2015 school year) is to raise $100,000 through our Annual Giving Campaign, which we are calling "Fund'15...Begin, Grow, Achieve." If each family in our school committed to a donation of $450 per year, our goal will be met. As we reach out to the school community, we ask you to consider the question, "what is your child's education worth to you?" All of our children have and will continue to benefit greatly from the innovative, and unique educational environment at CIS. Your donations and pledges will help us to take a step closer to purchasing our building and establishing a home for the present and future students of CIS.
It is our hope that this annual campaign will be the only school fundraising activity sponsored by the CIS Foundation this year.
The education and future of our children depends on your support, and we hope that you will respond positively to our written request. We ask you to please return the pledge card to the front desk by April 10th. Remember that your gift is tax-deductible! Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
Sincerely,
The CIS Foundation Board |
WHY VOLUNTEER
Volunteer. Sometimes that little word can make us cringe. Sometimes the request to volunteer brings on initial panic and the need to find excuses. Sometimes that little word can change our children's lives like no other.
At Corrales International School we need volunteers. We have so many great opportunities for our children but without the support and help of our community, those opportunities are not available.
We all chose this school because of the education, the caring staff, the sense of community, the class size, etc. We have a very active PTA that gives our children so many "extras" because of the funds raised in the many different fundraisers provided. They pay for our children to take field trips, uniforms for those that can't afford them, Balloon Fiesta Breakfast, Teacher Appreciation and many others. Being a part of this committee is vital to the future of our school.
The Foundation is another committee that needs our help. This committee exists for the purchase and funding of the building we now occupy. In our community it is so important to have volunteers. Our teachers and staff work hard to give our children the best. An hour a month to help in your child's classroom, a couple of hours a quarter to help beautify the school with clean up, sitting on the many committees we have at CIS like the playground committee or the PTA and Foundation, going on a field trip or two, or teaching an after school club on a weekly or bi-weekly basis are examples on how you can help and enrich our children.
I urge you to give our community a little bit of yourself every once in a while. I know we are all busy.
We have work, sports, children, a life, but without your help we can not offer our children the "extras" that brought us to CIS.
Thank you for your time.
