Kids in Class CIS

Dear CIS Families,

Saturday is our 6th Annual CIS International Day Festival  This is huge event for our community.  Not only is it a fantastic community building event where you can meet other CIS families and see what each classroom has been working on over the past unit, but it is also a nice fundraiser for the CIS PTA.

The CIS PTA is able to use funds raised by this and other events at CIS to provide after school clubs, field trip funds for teachers, teacher appreciation, parenting workshops, and so much more for our kids!

Each grade has prepared a classroom museum to present to the greater community and has practiced to perform for all of us a song and dance!  Please make every effort to attend this day!

Thank you!

From the Attendance Committee

After our first time of issuing lunch detention, for PYP ever and for MYP this school year, a couple of changes are going to be made.

First off, we would like to explain why we are doing this.  We have several students who are tardy several times a week.  If a student is tardy 10 minutes three times a week,  over the course of a month they miss 2 hours of class.  This also disrupts the students who are already receiving their instructional time.

We met on Thursday October 30, 2014.  In that meeting, it was decided that we will use 2 codes for tardies.  One will be an Excused Tardy the other Unexcused Tardy.  Excused Tardy will be used in cases for example in which a student may have a doctor's appointment.  When the parent brings the student to school and signs them in for the school day, the parent will supply CIS with a doctor's note.  Also, an excused tardy may be when a major accident occurs.  At that time, the tardy will be marked excused.   Any other reason for the tardy will be unexcused.

When a student has accumulated 3 unexcused tardies, they will be required to attend Study Hall.  Study Hall will be on the last Wednesday of each month (that we are in session) at 7:30 am.  Parent will be required to sign their child in at 7:30 am.  Study Hall will be held until 8 am.  The students will be provided work from their teacher during this time.

If you would like to correspond with the Attendance Committee, please email us at info@corralesis.org  .  This is the ONLY way to communicate with the Attendance Committee.

Thank you for your cooperation with this matter,
