Kids in Class CIS

Dear CIS Families,

TOMORROW is our Make-Up Picture Day. Only those students who did not have their picture taken during our PYP and MYP Picture Days will be photographed.  Only students on the make up list can be out of school uniform (but wearing clothing that meets the standards of our dress code--no short shorts, spaghetti straps, etc).

Once all pictures are taken, poofs will be available from the photographer and families can purchase online based on the proofs chosen.

Also tomorrow, is the first PTA-sponsored parent workshop of the school year! The CIS PTA is thrilled to offer our community monthly workshops on topics that will strengthen our families and help us create healthy emotional and intellectual development in our kids. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet with other CIS parents to learn about new topics and have great discussions.  We hope you will join in.

October Learner Profile
Caring

They develop empathy, compassion and respect towards the needs and feelings of others. They have a personal commitment to service, and act to make a positive difference to the lives of others and to the environment.

Activities for parents

* Role model the caring behavior you would like to see in your child all the time. Using kind words, helping people without being asked, being an active listener, all show your child that you care about people.

* Smile

* After reading a book, spend some time considering how the people in the book acted. Was someone caring? All of the time or just some of the time? Were all of the characters in the book caring or just some of them?

* Practice random acts of kindness. Simple things like holding the door for someone or helping carry bags shows that you are aware of
others and want to help them.
