CIS Family,

Our fall session of Measure of Academic Progress testing for the school year continues this week!   Click here for the testing schedule.

Please remember that your kids need good sleep, a healthy breakfast, and of course brain-boosting healthy snacks for testing!

Please drop off your healthy snacks with Miss Patti as soon as you can and remember we are a nut-free school!  We appreciate your donations of fresh fruit and vegetables and other nut free snacks to be distributed to testers before testing!

 School Advisory Committee (SAC)

Are you looking for a way to become more knowledgeable about the inner workings at CIS?  The School Advisory Committee meets once per month and is looking for a kindergarten parent representative!

The SAC is an advisory body comprised of parent representatives for each CIS grade, PYP and MYP teacher representatives and the Head of School. The members work together to better our school through active discussion and problem-solving to recommend policy solutions to issues relevant to the students, parents and staff at CIS.

Please contact SAC Chairwoman, Robin Yoder if you are interested! (robinyoder@aol.com)

Please come to the upcoming SAC meeting this Wednesday, October 1st at 5pm at CIS!

A Letter From Nama Catering

Dear Parents,

We're a little more than a month into the 2014-2015 school year, and I'd like to update you about the food service program at Corrales International and request your assistance to alleviate a few difficulties.

First, the children have overwhelmingly given positive feedback about the foodservice program.  They enjoy their meals and NAMA's sincere hope is that their healthy eating is contributing positively to their school success.  It is a pleasure to serve your children.

Next, several problems have become apparent regarding use of checks for payment of meals.  Of necessity we are instituting new procedures.  Effective immediately:

  1. No checks under $20.00 will be accepted. Nama Catering encounters monthly fees from the bank due to excessive deposits that are for a small dollar amount.
  2. Please take care when you write checks that the date is correct, including the year, and that the amount of the check is the same in its written form as it is in its numbered form (for example, $25.95 must be written "twenty five and 95/00").  This sounds silly but many checks have been received with contradicting information and the bank has rejected them.  I've also received numerous checks with the year indicated as 2013, they have also been rejected by the bank.
  3. Bounced checks will be charged $35.00 in addition to the original amount of the check.  ONLY cash, a cashier's check, or money order will be accepted in repayment of a bounced check and must be submitted within 5 calendar days of notification.
  4. Should a family submit 2 or more bounced checks NAMA reserves the right not to accept their checks for the remainder of the school year.

ADULT MEALS:

We offer an adult meal option for students who would like a bigger portion, the cost is $4.00 per meal and it includes a larger portion of the main course. If the main course is already a large amount of protein (example: hamburgers are 1/4th of a pound) then there will be extra fruit.

MENUS:

Monthly menus are available on our website. You can also view pictures of daily meals.  http://namacatering.com/

"Like Us" on Facebook to be notified when the next month's menus are posted, we will be selecting a recipe of the month to feature as well!https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nama-Catering/365422393559197

We love to feed your children and we are passionate about what we do!  I thank you in advance for your cooperation so that NAMA may to continue serving your children nutritionally sound and flavorful meals.

Health and Happiness,

Balloon Fiesta and Traffic News

Balloon Fiesta is coming!

This means hot air balloon excitement and traffic jams for us.  For the week of Oct 6 through 9 school will begin at 9 am to allow families extra time to get to school.  For our MYP students this change in schedule will mean no mentoring class to offset the late start.  Staff will be available at 7:30 am to accommodate those that can make it and need to drop students off at that time.  Instruction will not begin until 9:00am.

On Wednesday, Oct 8 we will have a Family Day with the facility open early to allow families to come see balloons from our building and have refreshments. This day will be a Balloon Themed day, with families invited to stay and see what they can learn in the classrooms about the science of ballooning, the history of ballooning, etc. Come enjoy this Family Day with us!  Our caterer, NaMa Catering has included a special item on the lunch menu for this day and invites family members to purchase in advance a meal and have lunch with your child!

Please note that due to continued construction
  • Paseo del Norte Blvd. (NM State Road 423) - One lane of eastbound Paseo del Norte will merge into southbound I-25 without any signals. Two lanes in each direction (east and west) will be open.
We will include updates with information about how traffic flow around CIS will be effected by construction as it becomes available.
