  • Discuss the food groups with your child. Spend a few minutes during a mealtime deciding if what your family is eating is balanced.
  • Role model this attribute. Spend time as a parent or family doing many different things.

PICK-UP TIME

Parents it is essential that when you pick up your child/children they stay with you at all times.  Students left unattended on school property will be escorted to after-care and a fee will be charged.

MYP students who do not attend tutoring or an after-school club will also be escorted to

===================================================

Why do students have to take the test?

The NMSBA (New Mexico Standards Based Assessment) serves several purposes:

  • The state-mandated, standardized test is used to assess whether students meet grade-specific state standards.
  • The SBA will serve as the high school exit exam for the first time this year. Students in the class of 2013 and beyond will have to pass the reading, math and science sections of the high school SBA by the end of their senior year in order to obtain a high school diploma.
  • OUR SCHOOL GRADE: The state's new A-F school grading system relies heavily on SBA results.   This affects all of us.
So let's all pull together and make sure that all our students are prepared for the NMSBA test.

I hope you have a wonderful week.

Kind Regards,
Dr. Elsy Diaz
Head of School

Hello CIS families!

It's that time of year again...Jog-A-Thon! As many of you know Jog-A-Thon is our school's biggest PTA fundraiser of the year, and this year all proceeds will go towards playground equipment for our new building!

Last year our amazing students brought in close to $8500 and this year (since we are so awesome), we're hoping to exceed that amount. We need all the help we can get from our fabulous CIS families though!

We need help in securing donations and general planning of the event. This year's event is scheduled for April 25th the we will have an Earth Day theme. If you are interesting in assisting please contact me at 505-903-2787 or abbiej76@comcast.net.
