Dear CIS Family,

I hope you were able to have a relaxing long weekend.  Today is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and I hope you found time to discuss with your children the amazing contributions that Dr. King made to humanity and our nation with his non-violent approach to affecting change in our world. 
Please take a minute to review the upcoming events at CIS and note that we have an extended day schedule this Wednesday, January 22, 2014.

MYP Parent Meetings

 

The middle school years 6th - 8th grade are critical in the academic and social development of the young adult. Though many of our children in this age group say they don't want us around, they need us more than ever.

 

With this in mind, we have scheduled the following parent meetings to discuss with you in detail the future of your child at CIS.  As you know Corrales International School has specific academic and social expectations for our students.  Please plan on attending the grade level meetings designed specifically for your child's grade level. 

 

Thank you to the 6th and 7th grade parents who made it to those grade level meetings. Any who were unable to attend are encouraged to attend the upcoming 8th grade meeting!

Hi all,

  

I hope you have all had a wonderful start to the year!  Our next meeting will be Monday, January 27, 2014 at 3:30 pm.  The agenda will be sent out to the group by the Friday before.  Please plan to join us, we've got a lot of great activities planned for our kids but we need you to help us make them a reality!  As an incentive, the classroom with the greatest representation at the meeting will be having a pizza party  to celebrate.  In addition, we will have a couple of great door prizes available for attendees. 

 

Just a heads up on the things we are working on:             

  • Math Night and Science Night sponsored by Sanda Labs in April and May
  • We need a co-chair to help Linda Kehoe with the Spring Book Fair in April
  • We need a co-chair to help Abbie Jackson with the Jogathon in April
  • Smoothie  Social in April
  • CIS Summer Camp!

 

Also, the current Board's term is up July 1.  We need to appoint a nomination committee and the elections must take place in April.  If you don't show up at the meeting, you just might end up nominated!

As we look forward to the expenses of moving to a new building, it would be helpful if parents would send messages to their state representatives and senators asking for financial support for Corrales International School.

You can look up your state representatives on the New Mexico Legislature website: www.nmlegis.gov. From the homepage you choose "member" and find your legislators by your home address if you don't already know who they are.

You can access the email address by asking for the information in the site search at the top of any page of the website.

Intention to Return

While 2014-2015 School Year seems distant, the Lottery for Enrollment in CIS is quickly approaching. We would like to know if you plan to enroll your child or children at CIS for the 2014-2015 School Year.
 

As you know, Corrales International School observes preference for any sibling. We want to make sure that these spaces are reserved and not offered as Lottery Openings. Please take the time to complete this form and advise us of your enrollment status for the 2014-2015 School Year no later than January 24, 2014.

Please complete a form for each child currently enrolled at CIS that isreturning next school year.
