Dear CIS Families,
What an amazing day on Saturday! A great be thanks to all our volunteers especially, Tara Armijo-Prewitt and Anna Prewitt who once again made this day extra special! Please check out our Facebook page to see all the great pictures being posted this week.
The CIS Foundation is having a facilities meeting on Monday, November 3rd at 5:30 p.m. Please attend the meeting to stay informed and participate in fundraising for our building. OUR NEW SCHOOL BUILDING (CHECK IT OUT)
We have met with the architect and have begun the design process for our new building. The link above will take you to an exterior view of the building. As soon as the architect completes the final drawings we will provide those to you.
While the thought of needing to raise $30,000 by January may sound daunting, it was noted by some families at our meeting that if you break it down it represents approximately $300 of fundraising per CIS family. This generous act would help us gain an amazing educational space for our students. Some great suggestions from the meeting were that we ask friends and family to write a check or BUY A BRICK for CIS in lieu of a birthday present, donate to the Corrales International School Foundation through the United Way as soon as possible, or ask businesses that you have a connection with to donate to our amazing school. Please visit the CIS FOUNDATION WEBSITE (CLICK HERE) or the BUY A BRICK website and consider contributing while having your child's name or the family name engraved on a brick that would be forever displayed in the entry way of our new building. These donations are tax deductible and the CIS fed tax id number is 03-2177700-00-4. There is also a box in our school where you can send your donations.
Please become part of our history by buying a brick, getting donations, and participating in our fundraising events. We can do this!
Respectfully,
Dr. Elsy Diaz

The IB Learner Profile for November is
Caring individuals develop empathy, compassion and respect towards the needs and feelings of others. They have a personal commitment to service, and act to make a positive difference to the lives of others and to the environment.
Activities for parents
- Role model the caring behavior you would like to see in your child all the time. Using kind words, helping people without being asked, being an active listener, all show your child that you care about people.
- Smile
- After reading a book, spend some time considering how the people in the book acted. Was someone caring? All of the time or just some of the time? Were all of the characters in the book caring or just some of them?
- Practice random acts of kindness. Simple things like holding the door for someone or helping carry bags shows that you are aware of others and want to help them.
