A Note from the CIS Governing Council Co-Chairs

As the year winds down, we hope everyone is looking forward to the summer. CIS
has had another exciting year and we want to thank the faculty and staff as well as
the parents and our wonderful students for everything that you do for our school.
CIS continues to grow, and we are proud of the progress we have made in adhering
to our charter and achieving some major milestones as we continue to implement
our IB curriculum.

As a result of this progress and growth, some changes are underfoot for next year.
Several teachers are leaving the school to pursue professional growth opportunities
or for other personal reasons, and we thank them for the contributions they've
made to our school and wish them well. The school has begun the process of hiring
new teachers, primarily for the MYP program.  We are happy to share that many
of these applicants already have MYP teaching experience. We look forward to
welcoming the new faculty and staff and are excited to work with them as we
continue moving towards achieving MYP certification.

While it may seem that there are many changes for next year, we can assure you that the Governing Council is not only fully aware of these changes but we are confident in the direction of our school and the leadership of Dr. Elsy Diaz. Under our bylaws, the GC may have two parents serving on the Council.  This year's Co-Chair is a parent, Carl Grending, who wants you to know that he is pleased with the education that his children receive at CIS, and is looking forward to watching their continued growth at the school and is optimistic about the future of the IB program at CIS.

We are always looking for parents to join the GC, so we encourage anyone who is
interested to contact us for more information on how to become a member.
The GC does understand that changes can raise a lot of questions concerning the
direction of the school, so we encourage you to reach out to Elsy to discuss how
these changes might affect your child or any other concerns with the education
your student is receiving at CIS. It is important that we come together as a school
community to continue to support our children's education and the continued
growth of the school.

Have a great summer and we'll see you next year.

Carl Grending and Yasine Armstrong, Co-Chairs, CIS Governing Council
