KUDOS
Congratulations on a job well done to the MYP and the PYP Battle of the Books Clubs!
This weekend 12 CIS students participated in the Central New Mexico Battle of the Books. Students read a minimum of 10 books each to participate. Mia Pillote and Annick Ambrose were on the 1st place Elementary team, and Jake Blatchford and Jeff Dominguez-Arellanes were on the 2nd place Middle level team. Everyone had a great time, and we are now preparing for the Statewide Battle on April 27 in Silver City. Read on!
If you are interested in being in the club next year, see Ms. Groff for next year's booklist. |
PTA NEWS | |
Did you know that field trips, after school clubs, before testing snacks, positive parenting workshops, book fair, jogathon and tons of other great events are all coordinated by the PTA? We need you!! We know everyone can't make it to the meetings and some people may be confused about how to get involved. We are searching for one representative from each class to agree to communicate PTA info to other parents. Please contact Megan Walsh to get involved. This responsibility will fulfill the required three hours of volunteer time per family. Email mmwalsh@swcp.com or call 505-934-4875.

PERMACULTURE WORKSHOP
WONDERING WHAT PERMACULTURE IS ALL ABOUT?
Dear Loving Parents,
I hope this email finds you well rested and with your planner or cellphone in hand. If you haven't marked it down already. I want to personally invite you to our workshop based on permaculture principles on Saturday, April 20th, from 2-4 p.m. You are more than welcome to bring a healthy snack to share or a plant starter of your choice. Our skilled and knowledgable ladies, Kelly, Joshlyn and Gina will guide us (and me too) through hands-on activities that will help you have a glimpse of what your child/children take part in when they are in our care. We also want you to take some of what you learn and put it into practice with your little one(s) at home. I can't wait for this upcoming weekend to come already! I hope to see you and your child in our workshop this SATURDAY AT 2 p.m. Don't miss it! If you have any questions, concerns or comments, do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks, Noemi Diaz-Abbey
ALL CIS FAMILIES AND STAFF ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND THIS FREE WORKSHOP. PLEASE CONTACT ANNA PREWITT AT annaprewitt@gmail.com IF YOU PLAN ON ATTENDING!

Dear CIS Families:
Every charter school in New Mexico is expected to be in a publicly owned building. This means that we as a public charter school, need to purchase our permanent school building. In meeting this expectation, the Governing Council's Facilities Committee has worked on identifying potential sites for purchase and the CIS Foundation has worked on fundraising events.
Through the work of these amazing volunteers we are estimating at needing to raise at least $400,000 in the next 3 years.
For the last three weeks, your student has taken a bright green flyer encouraging your role in fundraising for our permanent school site. It is imperative that we as a community with a shared vision, support all fundraising efforts possible toward this goal!
TOGETHER, WE CAN DO IT! There are many ways you can help--buy a brick, donate your time or materials for and/or attend the upcoming silent auction at the Albuquerque Little Theater, sign your children up for the KIDS ONLY TRIATHLON, or join the Foundation Board!
Please come to the very important Foundation meeting at CIS on April 16th at 5pm and join the other families working towards our common goal - A permanent school site for Corrales International School.
Thank you for all that you do!
Respectfully,
Dr. Elsy Diaz
Head of School
