December 2, 2012        CIS   BACKPACK EXPRESS

Dear CIS Families:

This is a big week at CIS!

Our bookfair will be running all week long!

On Tuesday, our school is up for reauthorization of our charter and we would love to have parents and students come to the APS School Board of Education Policy and Instruction Committee meeting and show their support for CIS!

On Wednesday at 5pm, the Governing Council will hold this month's meeting at the Corrales Senior Center.

On Thursday, we will have our Winter Concert at the NM Bar Association auditorium at 5121 Masthead NE.  Our music teacher, Mrs.Clarke and our students have been working very hard to prepare for this big performance for you.

5:45 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. Kinder to 2nd Grade Performances

6:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. 3rd Grade to 5th Grade Performances

7:15 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. 6th Grade to 10th Grade Performances

On Friday, we have the KIDS' SHOP HOP from 315 to 6pm.  This is one of our students' favorite events of the school year in which the children have the opportunity to do all of their holiday gift shopping for donated items from the PTA.  This is an extraordinary community building event with a storyteller, a performance by the CIS ALT Drama Club, as well as a bake sale and a raffle of a beautiful handmade lap quilt!  You will not want to miss this one!

CIS PTA Needs You....
to help with Book Fair and Kid's Shop Hop!

Greetings!

In the midst of this busy holiday season, please consider giving a few minutes of your time to help with the Book Fair and/or the Kid's Shop Hop next week. Check out the wide variety of volunteer opportunities at

http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0F49A4AF22A57-book1

Book fair is the perfect chance to pick up some great gifts for friends and family members and also benefit our school. The Kids' Shop Hop is a really fun event with low priced items (10 cents- $1) for your kids to pick up gifts for you or others. We'd also appreciate any new or gently used items you'd like to donate to fill the shelves. You should also really take some time to check out the beautiful quilt made and donated by Debi Navarette that we'll be raffling.

Please give a bit of your time to benefit all of our kids and the CIS community. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Tammy Spatz at [email protected] or me at [email protected]

Happy Holidays,
Megan Walsh
