A Note from Music Teacher, Robyn Clarke
Dear Parents,
|
Our music classes have been working really hard to learn our dances for International Day and we are excited to share them with the whole community. The performances will be from 3 - 4 during Saturday's event.
We will start with Kinder and work up from their traveling all over the globe through dance and song.
It is very important that all students arrive at the stage area by 2:50 and look for your teacher to sit together. If you are a second and third grader, please meet me in the library to organize our places.
If you are unable to make the performance on Saturday please notify your classroom teacher ASAP so we can plan accordingly. 6th and 8th graders will need a note from parents for an excused absence, as this is part of your grade.
Lastly, here is a list of each class and what they should wear - but please just get as close as you can, no need to run out and make purchases.
Remember that
- Dancers should be able to move safely and
- Dancers should be comfortable.

Dia de los Muertos Marigold Parade
This Sunday, November 4th, is Albuquerque's Marigold Parade. CIS will have a float in the parade again this year !
The parade is from 2pm to 6pm and begins at the Bernalillo Co Sherrif's Substation in the South Valley and will end at the Westside Community Center on Isleta.
Email Tara at tprewitt@gmail.com if you would like to participate! We will meet before the parade at noon to help anyone who might need it with painting faces and we can also decorate our float!
Parade rules do not allow scary or bloody outfits and all participants must have calavera face paintings and all floats must have marigolds! Please bring a bag of candy to throw out as well.
We hope to see you there!
PARENTS, PLEASE NOTE THAT, AS THE PARADE IS THIS WEEKEND, OUR DIA DE LOS MUERTOS ART CLUB WILL NO LONGER BE MEETING!

PTA UPDATE | |
Our Scholastic Book Fair will take place during the second week of December. We are in the planning stages now and need many volunteers! This is a fun way to complete your "Three for Me" volunteer hours! Duties include cashier, assisting teachers/students with book selections, decorating and special events. The committee will be holding it's first meeting next week. If you are interested in working on this committee (or volunteering during the actual book fair) email Tammy at the address below.
The art work has been submitted for the Display My Art Fundraiser. We are expecting to receive the brochures and magnets sometime this next week. You will have about 2 weeks to complete your orders. They can be done online or you can use a paper form and check. Product will be delivered between the 6th and 12th of December. I know the students are really excited to share their work with you!
We are getting ready to kick off another Fundraising Event! How would you like to raise money for our school without selling items (or purchasing them yourself!)? What if I told you that you can do it on a regular basis without spending any differently than you already do? Sound interesting? The PTA is starting a Scrips program. In a nutshell, families purchase gift cards from the school to use instead of cash/check/credit cards while doing their regular shopping. This is also great for holiday gifts! You'll be amazed to see how many of your favorite retailers are available through this program! The retailers sell us the gift cards at a reduced rate and the difference is our profit! The percentage varies by retailer (usually between 2-14%) but your gift card is worth the full face value. Flyers will be coming home this week with more details and we will be holding some informational meetings.
If you have questions about any of these programs or volunteer opportunities, please contact Tammy Spatz at tamspatz@gmail.com. |
