CIS Health Reminders |
The Health office is looking forward to a healthy & happy school year at CIS. As parents you can help us make sure that is possible. Please remember the following:
- Keep your student at home if he/she has a fever of 100.0 or higher. Please do not send your student to school until they have been fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.
- Keep your student at home if they have been vomiting or has uncontrollable diarrhea. Please do not send them back to school unless they are free from symptoms for 24 hours.
- .Do not send medications to school with your student. It is against school policy for any student to carry medication without speaking to the School Nurse and having proper documentation.
- Remind your students of proper hygiene regarding illnesses. Encourage covering your nose & mouth with a tissue. Remind them to wash their hands frequently.
We can all help the CIS students stay healthy with these simple steps! If you have any questions or concerns we will be happy to answer them. We feel privileged to be taking care of the health needs of your children and consider it honor.

NEED YOUR DOCUMENTS
Dear Parents:
Over the last couple of weeks, I have gone through every student folder and compiled of list of missing documents that are needed to complete your student's file.
I was able to make packets to send home with the students so that you would be able to complete these documents in the comfort of your own home. Please return these documents as soon as possible.
If you received a check in the box signifying that we need Birth Certificate Verification, please bring in the Original Birth Certificate so that I may sign off on it. This document may not be filled out by the parent.
Please know that I have gone through these folders with a fine tooth comb and believe me if these documents weren't an important part of your student's file I would not be asking for it.
Thank you in advance for helping me make sure these files are complete.

Where are you on your parenting journey? |
As all of you know by now, children do not come with owner's manuals. We all learn to parent "on the job" and from our own parents. There are so many decisions to make for our children that often times we make a decision and hope for the best. I believe the Nurtured Heart Approach offers insight to understanding children's behavior and strategies for parents to use to modify behavior and help them become strong, confident individuals.
The Nurtured Heart Approach addresses negative behavior in a positive way and builds the "inner wealth" of both children and adults. The three strands of the approach are: - Relentless pursuit and celebration of success
- Refusal to give energy or "payoff" to negative behavior
- Strict enforcement of clear and consistent rules
CIS staff and teachers have been implementing the NHA strategies this school year and we would love parents to learn these strategies. This will provide a common language to address behavior between the home and the school. Please take advantage of this great opportunity. Remember, parenting is a journey and we can all use guidance to illumnate the road ahead. |

We hope to see all CIS parents take advantage of this opportunity! |

Help our Musicians! |
Do you have a guitar taking up space in your closet? (holding memories from your high school garage band)
Our MYP guitar class is in desperate need of some guitars. If you have one at home that is not being used, please consider lending it to our class for the school year. We can use either classical or acoustic guitars ( but not electric). We have extra strings and can do small repairs. Here are some quotes from our 9th and 10th graders.
"It would be very helpful" - Anjelica "Every bit helps ( we are so small)" - Sabrina "We'll take good care of the guitars!" - Brittany
You can bring your guitar in any day and leave it with Mrs. Clarke or Patti. If you have any questions - email Mrs. Clarke at robyn@corralesinternationalschool.org
Thanks in advance for your help!
