The viewing of Waiting for Superman scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, May 1 at 6:00p-8:00p at CIS has been CANCELLED. The DVD is available for checkout from the PTA. Anyone interested in doing this should contact Monet at familiacaldsilva@yahoo.com.

PTA NEWS Garage Sale
Tammy Spatz, garage sale coordinator, will do a school pick up of donations at school Tuesday night. People can drop off their donations during the day or bring it to the PTA event that night. There will also be a drop-off day at school on Friday!
The Clark-Slakey family has generously offered to host the garage sale this year. Items can be dropped off at the Clark-Slakey home at 519 Bledsoe Rd. This is just off 4th Street behind Dan's Boots. They will be expecting drop-offs: Tuesday, May 1 from 6-9pm
Saturday, May 5 from 1-3 pm
The Mathisen family has offered to store items before the garage sale. Anyone interested in this option, should call Maggie at 898-7853.Any questions, email tamspatz@gmail.com! Thank you!
We will also pick up boxes and bags of items at the school on Tuesday evening and Friday afternoon this week.

We will need lots of help pricing and setting up during the week of May 12-19. The sale is on Saturday, May 19th. Watch for further information on volunteer shifts.

IMPORTANT NEWS FOR FAMILIES
ATTENTION--Effective IMMEDIATELY!For the safety of our students, the back gate at Midway Park NE will be locked 15 minutes after PYP student drop off, at 8:30 a.m.
ALL students, parents, and visitors arriving after 8:30 a.m. must enter through the front door of our school located on Singer Blvd. NE.
All students arriving after 8:30 a.m. must be signed in at the front desk by an adult.

KUDOS
Our amazing fourth grade students have established a not-for-profit business to raise funds for the Runyan Rescue Ranch. They voted on a name for the business, and are calling it "Rescue Cranes". The 4th graders are folding tiny, beautiful paper cranes that are being made into jewelry and accessories and sold for donations.
They got their inspiration for the business from a recent novel they read, Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes as part of their final unit entitled "Conflict Causes Change." The crane is also the worldwide symbol of peace. Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes teaches the meaning of the origami peace crane.
The Jewelry is beautiful, unique, and very meaningful with the crane connection to Corrales. As those who live in Corrales know, Corrales is a refuge for migrating Sandhill cranes .
The donations will be given to the Runyan Rescue Ranch to build additional pens for rescue animals. The 4th grade class is hoping to raise $3000 to build the pens needed at the ranch. Help our students help these rescued animals!
