What a Game!
What an Incredible Group of People!
Saratoga Springs High School was the setting for a fantastic game of football between our Morris Ford Brunettes and Axiom Capital Blondes on Saturday, September 29. The ladies definitely came to play and the game once again, came down to the final seconds. With under a minute left, the Blondes made a touchdown, bringing them within two points of tying last year's champs. But, the light-haired ladies met with an unmovable Brunette defense, and the game ended with a score of 14-12 and a second year of bragging rights for the Brunettes. After an inspirational trophy presentation on the field, the action moved to The Metro/28 Tables in downtown Saratoga Springs, where The Schmooze had the crowd rocking into the night. The players and coaches of both teams were honored for their commitment on and off the filed, as was the amazing planning committee for the event. Laura Brothers was recognized as Fundraising MVP for the second year in a row, and Jodi Wheeler was honored as Game MVP.
While the donations are still coming in and the count is still going on, it is clear that this dedicated group far surpassed last year's fundraising total. We'll have a final tally in the next edition of AlzBytes. For now, enjoy perusing the game night photo album on our Facebook page. Our National Alzheimer's Plan Town Hall Meeting with Congressman Paul Tonko on September 29 was a great success. We're grateful to Congress Tonko for giving us his time to listen to the concerns and stories of those who attended, and for sharing with us his hopes for progress on funding for the National Alzheimer's Plan. Thank you, too, to Colonie Senior Services and Beltrone Living Center for hosting us in the beautiful Lakeview Restaurant.
