Even if you have not accepted a full-time job, SENIORS are eligible to participate in the Bloomberg BusinessWeek senior survey. Only 17 more students are needed to respond to meet the minimum qualification before the February 16 deadline.

Preparing for a Job Fair
If you have been unsuccessful in landing interviews or a job offer since Business Horizons, be sure to attend the two upcoming career fairs on campus as well as others over spring break as outlined below. Employers attending both fairs will be relevant for business students.

Destinations Career Fair - February 17th
The HTM Department is hosting their annual career fair on Wednesday February 17th from 12:30-4:30pm at the Inn at Virginia Tech. Companies range from hotels, country clubs, food and beverage, resorts, to events and property management. Opportunities are available for every experience-level and business major. Connections Career Fair - February 23rd
The University sponsored career fair will be held on Tuesday February 23rd in Squires Student Center. I encourage you to attend if you have not yet secured a full-time job or internship for this year. NOVA Company Visits during Spring Break
We have arranged a very unique opportunity to visit a number of Northern Virginia firms in Tyson's during Spring Break.
Friday March 11
9am-11:30am - Public accounting firm in Tyson's not yet committed

These on-site company meetings will be open to accounting majors, any academic year, who are eligible to work in the US.
Thursday, March 10
Between 1-3 firms will host students interested in finance and other majors. More details will be shared next week.
Previous similar meetings have produced many interviews, internships and full-time jobs for students. Student must provide their own transportation and dress in business casual attire.
Space is limited to the first 12 students who email smease@vt.edu. Once you send the email committing yourself to attending, then we will expect your attendance. Your name will be shared with employers. So, if you do not show up, then the recruiters will know.
You may attend one or all of the events. However, you are strongly urged to attend all that occur in one day.

Company Days in the Pamplin Atrium
Company Days are when firms come to the Pamplin Atrium and setup booths for students to learn more about their employment opportunities. Firms will distribute food, swag and info about their company. This is a great opportunity to connect with recruiters in an informal way. Firms will typically be there from 10am-2pm each day.

2015 Post-Graduate Survey Data
You have seen the sheet we distribute in classes sharing placement and starting salary rates of students graduating before you. Those new numbers have been update for the most recent graduating class.
The placement rate of Pamplin graduates seeking employment from 2015 is 90% up from 89%. The median starting salary is $56,500 up from $51,000.
Specifically, here is the breakdown by major:
ACIS - 93%, $56,500 BIT - 91%, $62,000 FIN - 93%, $56,500 HTM - 81%, $44,000 MGT - 84%, $51,500 MKTG - 93%, $45,000
I have seen this data used to negotiate higher salaries, pick majors and double majors, select companies to apply and interview. It's our scorecard. When the time comes for your to take the survey, please invest the time. It's so helpful. Thanks!
