Virginia Tech's Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) has a part-time internship position available for a student seeking experience in accounting and auditing. This person will work as a member of OSP's Compliance Team, using tools such as Excel, Access and Virginia Tech's Banner Finance system to assist with the review and audit of financial transactions for research projects funded by sponsored grants and contracts. Our responsibility is to help ensure that all expenditures that are charged to the grants and contracts (such as payroll, travel, supplies, services, equipment, subcontracts, etc.), are in compliance with the federal Cost Accounting Standards and other federal and state laws and regulations, with the terms and conditions of the sponsoring agency, and with the university's policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Must be a full-time student, with preference for a junior or senior or graduate student majoring in Accounting and Information Systems or other major in the Pamplin College of Business.
This is a part-time student wage position. Students who have been awarded Federal Work Study are encouraged to apply. Work hours are flexible within OSP's normal business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
