Pamplin Career Services

The mission for Pamplin Career Services is to make students perfect job seekers and connect to our customers. This mission is carried out in 5 steps.

VT Pamplin Logo

1. We RECRUIT you to participate in our events and programs by speaking to classes and creating this email. The primary reason you are at Tech is to get a better job after graduation than you could after high school.

2. We want you to UNDERSTAND THE JOB MARKET by learning about what the private sector demands in today's workforce and to see where recent students land after graduation. Not all majors are equal.

3. We help you NAVIGATE THE JOB MARKET by giving you a copy of the book Perfect Job Seeker, which provides a step-by-step process to selecting a major to accepting an offer. Today's students will switch jobs and/or career at least 15 times in a lifetime.

4. We CONNECT YOU TO THE JOB MARKET through events such as Business Horizons, Company Days, Information Sessions, etc. The majority of all college recruiting is done in the Fall Semester.

5. We EVALUATE our efforts by asking students to take the Post-Graduation, Business Week and Universum surveys. Just like you want to know your GPA, we want to know how well we are doing.

Ultimately, our primary metric is to increase the placement rate of our graduates. We want you to succeed.

These eNewsletters are designed to communicate and help you with everything you need to be successful. Please read and act on this information.
