January 19, 2014
Welcome Back! At the start of the semester, I would like to remind you of the three primary function we perform for Pamplin students.

1. Understand the Job Market

Seniors take the university's annual Post-Graduation survey and their response frame the market for current students providing information such as placement rates, top employers, starting salaries, and top geographical locations. This document summarizes it for students

2. Navigate the Job Market

Once you understand the market, you need a system to navigate the market. We created The Perfect Job Seeker as a model to use in your job/internship search. You may come to Pamplin 1046 to pick one up and we will be handing it out in classes too. The book and model is now being adopted by over 20 schools across the nation.

3. Connect to the Job Market

We do this in a number of ways, but the best way to connect to employers is the Spring Business Horizons Career Fair on Thursday, January 30 from 1-6pm in Squires. Over 100 companies will be in attendance, in addition to, entrepreneurial organizations - if you want to start a business. You may get more info at BusinessHorizons.org and also search and download the Business Horizons app in your app store.

Seniors: Business Week Survey
SENIORS, we need your help in taking the 15-minute BusinessWeek Survey in order to qualify for their annual rankings. BusinessWeek tells us that only 25% of seniors have completed it. They have asked us to push it again prior to the January 22 deadline.

There is still plenty of time. Go to https://survey.businessweek.com, and you can take the survey and recover your password if you lost it or can't find the original email. BusinessWeek will also be doing a blast email to all the undergrads in our survey universe in the next couple of days before the survey closes Jan 22.

Thanks for taking the time to complete the survey.
2014 Spring Business Horizons - Jan 30

On Thursday, January 30 from 1-6pm in Squires Student Center's Commonwealth Ballroom will be the 2nd Annual Spring Business Horizons Career Fair. Please plan to attend. Visit BusinessHorizons.org and download the official Business Horizons mobile app at your app store.
