Start the New Year with tea
Have you made some health resolutions this year? If so, our selection of delicious teas may be able to help you as you seek to achieve those resolutions!
In this newsletter, we'd like to introduce you to a tea that you may not have heard of before: Pu-erh Tea.
Pu-erh is a variety of fermented dark tea produced in Yunnan province, China. Fermentation is a tea production style in which the tea leaves undergo microbial fermentation and oxidation after they are dried and rolled. This process is a Chinese specialty.
Pu-erh tea is widely believed in Chinese cultures to counteract the unpleasant effects of heavy alcohol consumption. In traditional Chinese medicine it is believed to invigorate the spleen and inhibit "dampness." In the stomach, it is believed to reduce heat. Brewing instructions here.

The National Western Stock Show
In its 108th year, the National Western Stock Show provides college and graduate level scholarships in agriculture and medicine for practice in rural areas. The 16-day show also serves as an entertainment arena, hosting one of the world's richest regular season professional rodeos, largest horse show and Colorado's largest tradeshow.
Catch-a-Calf program
Did you know that the Village Roaster has been sponsoring a 4-H youth in this program for many years now? Successful participants catch a calf, feed it, and return with the animal one year later as a market steer. The market animals are judged on rate of gain, quality of fitting, and carcass quality. The exhibitor is judged on showmanship, their record book, and a personal interview. We've been blessed with meeting some amazing young people thru this program. This year we are sponsoring Bryce Hill, an amazing 7th grader - click here to read his latest update! This gives you a bit of insight as to what these young framer and ranchers go through. Personal note from Jim: my roots go back to the farms that I spent lots of childhood times with grand parents, aunts and uncles. What a great foundation for me.
