Do You Want to Make an Impact & Have Fun While You're at It?

LWHRA volunteer coaches are needed for the LWHRA/Seattle Jobs Initiative (SJI) Coach Program. A new six-month cohort is gearing up to start in late July.

We all know how tough it is to look for work. LWHRA Seattle Jobs Initiative Coaches are all about nurturing confidence. They enhance the interpersonal and job search skills of people about to graduate with short term certificates and 1- or 2-Year Degrees in health care, business and administration support, manufacturing, and automotive.

SJI is a nonprofit organization that offers support and access to career training and education programs for low-income adults. The coaching program brings together prospective community college graduates with LWRHA volunteer coaches. The SJI participants have changed their lives through education and are about to transition from college to career. Bridging this transition through coaching support in a fun and an easy-going group environment goes a long way in helping graduates persist in looking for their first career job.

Group meetings are facilitated by SJI project managers and combine interactive and experiential learning opportunities with fun and laughter. Meetings include presentations, group discussion, field trips, and problem-solving activities focused on networking, communication, interviewing, and job search.

It's a great opportunity to build relationships with fellow HR professionals while impacting others' lives. Graduates come to trust that coaches (aka. employers) are genuinely interested in them and their success.

"While I am sharing my experience with people who need a hand, I have also gained some great new friends and expanded my world. Those are benefits most of us can appreciate."
--Beth Maurer, LWHRA Member

"I enjoy the connections I am able to make both within and outside of the HR Community. I also enjoy the different perspectives that the students share and the trust that is built within the group."
--Keely Butters, LWHRA Member
