Andrew EstepHelp Our Garden Grown

Andrew L. Estep, CAE

It's spring. The weather is (slowly) warming, the sun occasionally burns away the cloud blanket, and a this man's thoughts turn to gardening. The weeds need to be tamed, the soil prepared and the vegetables planted. It can be hard work, but very rewarding. The benefits are tangible and specific. It is a wonderful time of year.

One of my favorite jobs as an executive director is coaching volunteers through new skills and experiences. As a volunteer, professionals have opportunities to explore their talents and learn new abilities in a safe and supportive environment. Leadership and management take on whole new meanings in a group of equals where position power is minimized and personal power has a chance to grow.

The Lake Washington Human Resource Association is growing and we need your help. We need your talents, hidden or otherwise. We need your time and energy. We need you to grow into the best that we can be. There are several committees that need help both great and small. Visit the Volunteer webpage for more information and to sign up. You will be glad you did.
