Uganda and Tanzania

God blessed our projects in Africa in March, April and May, as Amy, Steven, and I shared the Good News of Christ in Uganda and Tanzania.  Our  NEST (National Evangelist Support Team) partners in Uganda did a super job in preparing our programs.  We had the joy of training more than 300 Christian leaders through our Leadership Development & Evangelism Training Conference at the beginning of our time in Jinja.  

We preached, taught, shared our testimonies, hosted several great meals for attendees, sang and told the wonderful story of God's love.  Through our school programs, we taught young people about abstinence, and the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse...challenged the students to give their hearts and lives to Jesus.  We prayed the Sinner's Prayer with thousands of students, teachers and administrators.

What a joy to see over 600 prisoners in a local prison turn from sin to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior!  Steven and I had the great privilege of sharing the Gospel with several professional soccer teams, two of those teams in their highest division.  64 of those athletes prayed to receive Christ in our meetings; one of the pastors with whom we worked wrote us a wonderful letter, listing the names of each young man who made a public commitment to Christ, finishing with this:

Thank God for so many pastors and Christian workers around the world, who are laboring in the harvest, teaching, training and evangelizing countless men and women in their communities!

Our two-day CityCelebration at the Walukuba Football Grounds in Jinja, Uganda was an exciting event, complete with a fast-moving storm that rolled in the first night, underscoring our preaching with huge dark clouds, thunder, lightning and rain!  We were thrilled that the Lord punctuated our event with evidence of His great power, and also held back the rain 'til the last note of Amy's "How Great Thou Art..." - and then the rain came down.  But, not before 87 adults and 143 young people made a public profession of faith and gave their hearts to Christ!  The local pastors have invited us to return, and want us to host a week-long crusade next time.

Working together with our NEST Uganda team was a joy, and together, we reached more than 12,000 people in Uganda with a clear presentation of the Gospel, with many thousands of people indicating their desire to follow Jesus as Lord and Savior.  Steven went on to Tanzania for two additional weeks of ministry, working with our NEST leaders from Tanzania and Kenya, where he reached more than 6,000 people with the Gospel through school programs, and saw over 2,000 of them make a public profession of faith in Christ.

All in all, over 18,000 people heard the Good News of Christ during this mission, and we rejoice in every single person who opened the door of his or her heart and invited Jesus to come in.  See Revelation 3:20.

International projects later this year will be in South Africa in August/September, and The Philippines in November.  Your prayer and support is deeply appreciated and needed!  Thank you for lifting us up, and sending us out to proclaim the Gospel to the nations.
