Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Nations

Students in the Philippines responding to the Gospel!

November 21, 2012

Greetings!

What an incredible time of year, as we pause to reflect upon God's great goodness and His abundant provision in our lives.  We have so many marvelous things for which to be thankful...the greatest of which is salvation found in the Lord Jesus Christ, and the hope of eternal life with Him!

Amy and I would like to express our deep gratefulness to you for your faithful friendship, love and support, without which we could not continue to reach out to the least, the last, and the lost of this world.  Thank you for partnering with us as we go to the nations with the Good News of Christ!

Please see below a brief report from our recent mission in the Philippines in October and also a mid-mission report from Steven's time in Kenya, from which he has just returned.  We praise God for the great things He has done!

May you and your family and friends have a joyful  time of thanksgiving in all the Presence and fullness of the Holy Spirit this week.

With love and great joy, in Christ victorious,

David

CURRENT NEEDS AND A PRAISE REPORT!

In answer to our prayer, God has provided a 2002 Jeep Cherokee for our ministry!  Thank you, Lord!  We are asking the Lord for one additional vehicle, which would be so very helpful to us as we travel and minister the Gospel.  Below is a list of current needs for the ministry:
1) Vehicle in good working order, preferably SUV-type

2) Monthly support for national evangelists in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, South Africa, Tanzania, and The Philippines

4) Notebook computers and printers, in good working order, with software

5) Media Administrator, Computer Technician

6) Director of Development

7) Bookkeeper and Accountant

All of the positions mentioned would need to be filled by volunteers, or those who might be willing to raise their support to work with us in the ministry.

If you, or anyone you know, might be able to help us with any of these needs, please contact Amy or David Stockwell in our ministry office at 281-391-8777 or [email protected].

Amy Stockwell will Filipino students, Laguna, Philippines Mission Laguna, Philippines

October 3-22, 2012

Dear Friends,

What an awesome time we had preaching the Cross of Christ in the Philippines! My wife, Amy, son, Steven, and I have recently returned from our mission in 5 cities in Laguna, Philippines, where we reached more than 17,000 people with a clear presentation of the Gospel!  Many thousands responded to the call, and prayed the Sinner's Prayer to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior! More than 15,000 of those people indicated their strong desire to repent from their sin, and to invite Jesus to be Lord of their lives. Thank you for sending us to the "uttermost parts of the earth..." and for praying that we would have the Power of the Holy Spirit at work in and through us, so that we can be witnesses for Him.

(Acts 1:8)

Our NEST (National Evangelist Support Team) Philippines team did a wonderful job organizing and preparing our mission; they will also continue the work of follow-up in the 27 schools where we presented our David Stockwell Speaks Out program, and with the help of local churches, will continue to minister to more than 2,000 people who attended our CityCelebration community crusade, victims of recent flooding living in an evacuation area of Calamba City. We were also glad that we were able to help these same people by giving away (in an organized fashion) 13,200 pounds of rice to crusade attendees and those in need.

It gives me great joy to see my youngest son, Steven, responding to the call to take the Gospel to the nations, and serving the Lord Jesus with all his heart! Please keep him in your prayers as he has been on mission in Kenya, since October 27, traveling and ministering in Nairobi, Kisumu and Migori Town, speaking in schools and presenting the Gospel to Kenyan young people and encouraging them to say "YES" to Jesus!  He will continue to minister in Kenya through November 19, and has already been able to speak to 13,500 students in 24 schools, and has seen over 9,000 people profess their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ!  To God be the glory!

Thank you again for your love and friendship, and for your generous giving which makes it possible for us to GO and TELL the Good News of Christ. We are deeply grateful for you!

Your friend and partner in the Gospel,

David

Youth Education Strategies

Great week sharing the Gospel in rural Kenya!

Wow!  What an absolutely amazing week we have just had!  Our Youth Education Strategies team has been able to speak in 24 schools with 13,500 people and saw more than 9,000 professions of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  My Kenyan brothers in Christ, Pastor Jonathan and fellow Gideon Alfred, and I have also been able to distribute 7,000 Biblical tracts and 1,800 New Testaments.

Words can't describe how great this week has been! We have seen some incredibly big things this week, but it was one of the smaller schools that touched my heart the most.
Sometimes you can just feel the presence of the Holy Spirit as soon as you enter a school, and sometimes you can feel the presence of the enemy, but I knew a spiritual battle was raging at Kikoma Middle School as soon as we arrived.

We had spent this Wednesday outside the city of Migori traversing some of the most rocky, muddy, and bumpy roads I have ever experienced in order to share the Gospel in some of the most remote hills in all of Kenya near the southern border. In fact, just before we arrived at Kikoma, my phone received an automated text message that said, "Welcome to Tanzania!"

When we arrived, the principal quickly showed us to his office and explained the situation. He said, "More than two-thirds of the students at the school have already lost at least one of their parents due to HIV/AIDS, and many of them are orphans. We have tried to teach them how to do the right things, but most of these 4th through 8th graders are following down the same path as their parents and many of the students are already HIV positive and many of the girls are already pregnant. Several members of the teaching staff, including myself, also pastor churches on the weekend; we are doing everything we know in hopes of reaching the students, but we feel like it isn't making much of a difference."

I knew that this man's heart was breaking for his students, and my heart immediately began to break for them as well. Before we started the assembly, we prayed together that God would do something miraculous this very day. God certainly answered our prayer!

As we began the program, the 215 students were simply excited to see a Mzungu (white person).  However, their faces quickly changed as they were cut to the heart by the conviction of their sins. I knew that God had already begun to work in them.  When it was time for the invitation, more than 150 of these students made the commitment to turn from their sins and give their lives to Christ as Lord and Savior.  As the program concluded, I could see in the students' faces that God had done something mighty this day.  After the assembly, we joined the staff in the small school office.  The principal came to me with tearful eyes and thanked me for coming all the way out to his school. Then, I believe we all teared up as we prayed together for God to continue moving in the students' hearts.  In fact, I am tearing up right now as I write and remember this school! I wish we had been able to take some photographs here, but I know I will always remember their faces anyway.
Also, we spent Friday sharing the Good News in Naivasha. This is the city that was at the center of the violence after the 2007 Kenyan presidential election.  I have been told horror stories of when more than 300 members of the Luo tribe were brutally slaughtered right in the middle of the town market.  In one day, we were able to share the life-changing message of Jesus in 5 schools with 6,000 people and saw more than 4,500 make professions of faith in Jesus Christ.  We also hosted a revival meeting on Friday and Saturday evenings in which God moved mightily and helped to heal some of those who were involved in the post election violence.

Thank you for praying for me and for our ministry partners as we travel and share the Gospel!  Please join YES in prayer for God to continue working in those we have already reached.  I look forward to sharing more details with you very soon about our last week of ministry in Kenya.  Asante sana! (Thank you very much!)

In Christ,
Steven Stockwell
