Hi,

Sorry for flooding you with emails today.

This email is going out to select 15u, 16u and 17u pitchers that we think can benefit from an new velocity improvement program called "Velocity Plus".

This is a program developed by Tom House and got a lot of publicity last year when Steve Delabar from the Blue Jays made the All-Star team throwing 98, after being out of baseball for 2 years.  Click here for that story that has a lot of info on the program - http://youtu.be/fEQJAgIxX2A

Matt used the program with Kevin Pohle (2010 Gamer - Clemson) during Nov/Dec and saw some good results.

It is a customized year-long program.  Players get tested with different weighted balls, a customized strengthening program is prescribed, then they get tested again and another program is designed, etc.. The strengthening phase is about 9-12 weeks long.

Then, there is a custom maintenance program during the season that players follow. The Power Arm bands and long toss program that we do in the Gamers is a good compliment to the Velocity Plus program.

More details on the program are at:
http://www.playersdugout.com/velocity-program.asp and include:
  • The goal is increased velocity -- the quoted velo increases on the website are high (but we have verified that players are seeing this level of improvement).
  • Total Body and Core work are necessary to compliment program, which you should be doing
  • University of Louisville, Illinois, Baylor, Ole Miss and others, as well as the Texas Rangers, Toronto Blue Jays, and KC Royals have implemented the program.
  • Players who make the biggest strides are tall 14-16 year baseball players and fastpitch players
Our players are going to get some special attention on this, so we need to register as a group.  Do not register online.  We will be working directly with the guys who did the program with Steve Delabar.

Sorry for the late notice on this -- BUT, if you are interested you need to take action quickly to get 9-12 weeks of strengthening in before your HS games start.  Player need to register with the front desk at All-Star Performance to get onto this program.  Please call on Monday, Jan 13 to register.  ASP front desk is at 314-394-1495.

The cost is $455 per year and includes the testing kit, set of training balls and customized program.  The strengthening phase will take 35-45 minutes a day about 3x per week outside of the Gamers program.  You will need 20 feet of open space to throw the training balls into a net.  You can just do this in a garage or basement.  Also, Matt is going to block off a batting cage at ASP every weekday from 2:30-4pm for players to get the work done at ASP.

Matt will arrange for the testing to be done -- basically a series of radar gun readings with different weight balls. So, you do not need to go out and buy a radar gun.

Thanks,

Coach Gallion
