Hi,

This email has important information about our Training and Nutrition expectations.

Click here for a copy of the presentation from the clinic on September 26th.

Also, please register for the Gamers Nutrition and Training site by clicking here.  There is a lot of good information on this site, as well as all the forms we use to manage the process.

Here is what you need to do:

Fill out your goals and training plan for the offseason.  You can download the file here.  Read the presentation before setting your goals.

Goals need to be turned in to your coach by October 1st.  The easiest way to do this is to take a picture of your goal sheet, then text or email a copy to your coach (contact info below).  If you do not have a smart phone, then you can scan and email your sheet.  We no longer want paper!!!  Email or text an image.

Then, you need to start tracking your workout routines.  The tracking sheets can be downloaded from the Gamers Nutrition and Training site.  The expectation is 2-3x per week for every element:

Cardio

Speed/Agility

Core

Upper Body

Lower Body

Throwing

Hitting

IF PLAYERS PITCHED IN FALL BASEBALL, they should shut down from throwing from the end of fall baseball until 12/1.  Then, get after it on 12/1.  IF YOU DID NOT PITCH IN FALL BASEBALL OR DID NOT PLAY FALL BASEBALL, YOU SHOULD START YOUR LONG TOSS PROGRAM 10/1.  Any questions on this, contact Coach Whiteside.

At the end of each month, beginning October 31, you need to take a picture of your goal sheet, then text or email a copy to your coach.

Again, the testing dates are:

16u - Sat 10/19, 7:30-10am

17u - Sat 10/19, 9:30-noon

14u - Sat 10/26, 7:30-10am

15u - Sat 10/26, 9:30-noon

ALL 14u-17u players are required go through testing unless you are injured.

Finally, over the past several years we have been constantly asked about pre-workout and post workout supplements for players.

Ideally, a player would get protein and vitamins/minerals, etc.. from eating real food -- meats, nuts, fruits, vegetables, etc..  This very inconvenient, since we are telling them to eat 6x a day.  So, a lot of our players don't do it.

Bars and protein/workout supplements fill this gap between convenience and what is required.

Previously, we have just told players to go to the local GNC or Supplements Superstore and ask for advice.  Our players have ended up with products that are not high quality, taste bad, and have questionable ingredients.

So, Matt and others have been doing some research on the supplements that college athletes are using effectively that are approved by the NCAA.  The Genesis Pure products were continually being mentioned.  That is why we had Steve Bieser, head coach at Southeast MO (D1 baseball), stop by to talk about these products and how his players use them.

In a separate email, we will be sending out information on 3 workout supplements from Genesis Pure that we are hearing good things about:

E2 - pre workout drink (mix with water)

Hydration - during exercise drink (mix with water)

Recovery - after workout protein supplement (mix with water)

Athletes find these convenient because they come in packets that can easily be mixed with water and easily kept in a gym bag.

Thanks, Coach Gallion
