Hi,
As you may know, the Gamers program runs the Midwest National Team Identification Series (NTIS) for USA Baseball.
This is THE USA Baseball --- http://USABaseball.com. 8 of the top 20 choices in the 2013 MLB draft were alumni of the USA Baseball process. USA Baseball runs the USA National Teams, the World Baseball Classic team and the USA Olympic Team. This is the top of the baseball pyramid, for youth, high school, college and professional baseball.
Note -- there are a lot of post-season copycats out there, with other organizations claiming to do similar things. There is only one USA Baseball, and one of its primary means of identifying players is the NTIS process.
The NTIS process get players across the country involved with USA Baseball. It is the pathway to the next level of baseball, through both the recognition of being selected as part of the USA process and the direct exposure to college coaches and scouts at USA Baseball events.
We strongly encourage players in the Gamers program to participate in the Midwest USA Baseball process. It is a great opportunity to compete with and against the top players in the region and the nation. It is a great fit for players in the Gamers program. While it is not a requirement of the Gamers program, we do believe that it is a natural extension of the program and a great opportunity for serious baseball players
These NTIS events are for players born in:
1999 & 2000 -- for the "14u" NTIS process
1997 & 1998 -- for the "17u" NTIS process
1996 -- for the "18u" NTIS process
USA Baseball works using straight birthdate years, not normal youth baseball age designations.
The Midwest NTIS process starts with a 1-day pro-style showcases for players in the St. Louis region. The step after that is a 3 day showcase style tournament in St. Louis with players from 4 other states. Players from OK, AR, NE, KS and MO will travel to St. Louis for this event. The final step is a 3 day national event at the USA Training Center in Cary, NC.
Regardless of whether you are selected to proceed at each step 1-3, or are even selected to the National Team Trials, it is a valuable and beneficial process. Learning how to showcase your talents and impress evaluators is an important part of moving forward in baseball.
